As for me...well, I am not always transparent. I have certainly not always been honest. It is something I am working on in relationships. I have a tendency to shut down when things get tough. Trying to get better.

When I first joined I tried acting like someone I’m not, that didn’t last long. Anyone here who really knows me knows I’m about as open and real as it gets. And I’m probably honest to a fault. Some people don’t like me and that’s fine, not everyone likes the taste of truth serum.

What you see is what you get with me - though I don’t let many people close. And when I do - well, they get to see me vulnerable, hear things no one else hears or would even guess I have going on - I’m extremely transparent and communicative when I care about someone.

I’m genuine. I don’t have time or energy to lie, to put on an act - if a topic is off limits, I will say so. So those who I don’t let close are pretty clued up on where my boundaries are. I’m often described as straightforward and non-judgemental.

I don’t find it easy to be as open and transparent as I am with those I care about - I have major abandonment issues and grew up in an abusive environment where being yourself was never a good thing. So it is a conscious effort on my part to take that risk and be completely open. Which is probably why I keep getting burned.

But in my opinion, being open and honest is the way to go. As long as it’s not rude, or abusive towards someone, then I really respect honesty. When people are honest, I can make clear decisions and know exactly where I stand. A life time of having to read between the lines has made me want a simple life, and honesty and communication is key.

It might just be your particular flavor, but that's perfectly fine.

We're not meant to click with the entire world population. We need to be different, so that we can connect with different people. Does that make sense?

I was given the book by someone that was trying to recruit me. And while certain aspects do intruige me, I cannot see me doing either full time. And I'm learning that's ok. I'm also seeing what I don't like.

So just do what you're comfortable with.

I am transparent, but not to everyone.

I learned a long time ago that you can't show everything to everyone without it being used against you. The people in my life I am friends with get the real me. That doesn't mean I won't be honest with people because I am. I'm just guarded depending on the situation.

I wanted to add if we are talking about Lit ...I am transparent here. I am me. Flaws and all. Everyone who knows anything about me, knows I am married.

It is my RL relationships that I struggle more with walls. I am forgiving but once hurt it is hard for me to reopen back up to someone in general. I think that is common though. We all have some level of self-preservation.
