Friday night my wife and I were coming home after not being able to go see the movie signs. Driving Ford exployer about 60 mph, come over a little hill down the other side in a straight stretch of a curvy rural road. Any way, a cat jumps out into the road about 100 feet infront of me.
I hid the brakes, skidding locked up, at least going straight. Thank god for anti-lock brakes. I know they work now.
Cat freezes I'm gonna pancake the little cat. I now slowed down to about 40 mph. Just as I get on top of it, no cars coming in other direction on two lane road so I quickly try to cross into other lane. Big mistake, guickly that is......did a 180 degree spin....am now going backwards heading across the road.....who the fuck knows where .....it all happened in an instant.....didn't roll over.....this was my first thought being its a ford exployer......went into the ditch other side of road.....slid backwards down the ditch till we stopped.....miracles do happen .....nobody hurt.....we get out of the vehicle and walk up to the road and wait for the sheriff patrols. Happened right in front of a home and they called 911, must have been the squealling tires and all the noise of sliding down the ditch that tipped them off that an accident happened.
All it all, we are pleased to be healthy and well. The cat, who knows where it is but at least it didn't become a pancake. Oh, my vehicle, auto shop just told me its going to cost 1,825 dollars to fix.
Next time, there may be a pancake instead.
