Lactating girls?

I'm curious about lactating girls. Is it true that a girl need not get pregnant to start making milk? Just seems like it could be a lot of kinky fun, and all the while getting a healthy nutritious drink besides. :p

So basically, is it possible to get a girl to start lactating without the use of hormone treatments or actually knocking her up?

Spin's rudeness aside, yes it is possible.

IIRC, if you google "La Leche League" you should find information on how to stimulate lactation by natural means.

men can lactate too, asshole

Well, that's cool and all, but I'm not all that interested in lactacting guys. Blame it on personal preference.

You would have to be super diligent to get a non-preg woman to lactate enough to be fun if that sort of thing gets you off. It requires constant nursing (with a baby) to keep milk production up. A day or two off and they will just stop.

Things that promote lactation
oatmeal
water, water, water
fenugreek
reglan

However, these are things for women who are already doing it. I think it's difficult to do if you've never been pg before.

I know that lactation can be induced in women who have never been pregnant (for women who are interested in trying to nurse an adopted infant, for example), but I can't tell you how to get started with that.

Pregnant women start to produce a premilk called colostrum during the pregnancy. I didn't start doing this until the third trimester. The milk itself comes in a few days after childbirth.

So, yes, I suppose you could "knock her up" if you wanted to do so, but you shouldn't expect instant results.

I'm curious too. When I have a child and I hear it cry in the backround will my breasts lactate a little? I've heard of that happening.

I'll tell you this:

When my son was past breast feeding, and was 6 years old, I started lactating again. I went for blood work and tests, and everything was normal. I thought something was wrong with me. It is kinda tasty though, aint it? :) Sweet!

To get a woman whose never been pg to lactate is almost impossible without hormone therapy. Do get a woman to lactate naturally requires her to become pg and give birth for, as Eilan said, before the baby is born and for a few days after all the woman produces is a thick yellow liquid known as collustrum and she makes it in very small quantities.

About 4 days later her milk comes in. But then with a sore lady and new baby, it's hard to find time to be in the mood.

Your best bet is to find a candidated who is already breastfeeding or who just recently stopped.
(This may not be possible but it is the easiest method.)

I'm suprised more guys aren't interested. Breastmilk is very sweet and often, when a woman has an orgasm (I have read this and experienced it) milk sometimes squirts out of her nipples.

One thing to be aware of right up front is the fact that birth control pills will stop the lactation process, as noted below. Stop taking the birth control pills so you can please someone and you just may find the process will take care of itself....

In any event, said by another site:

"How Does Induced Lactation Work?
Basically, it is important to remember that prolactin and oxytocin, the hormones that govern lactation, are pituitary, not ovarian hormones. Therefore, even if a woman has had a hysterectomy, she may lactate, providing her overall health is good. (Estrogen, in the form of birth control pills or for replacement therapy, is a lactation suppressant.) Both prolactin, the milk-making hormone, and oxytocin, the milk-releasing hormone, are produced in response to nipple stimulation. While there are now several regimens that use hormone therapy to assist in bringing in milk, many women have induced lactation with only mechanical stimulation. This consists of breast massage, nipple manipulation, and sucking -- either by a baby or a hospital grade electric breast pump. Some adopting mothers rent a breast pump in anticipation of the infant; other mothers simply put the adopted infant to breast."

So you're saying, as long as she's not on the Pill, all I have to do is work at it to get her to lactate?

...

Actually, is that even considered work? :nana:

I am not saying anything. Yet I can from personal experience verify that birth control pills do stop lactation. I was young and wanting and she had absolutely no desire at all to repeat the birthing process again any time in the near future.

The article at Babyzone.com "appears" to be saying that though.

Yes, it's work. And when you say "all I have to do" you are probably underestimating the Herculean effort that is involved with getting a woman to lactate without her being pregnant.

Uh, you may also wish to consult with the lady in question. It's possible, just maybe, that she won't WANT to lactate.

And if she goes off the Pill, she will get pregnant if you don't use other forms of birth control.

I've seen someone lactate, and she wasn't pregnant, and she was on birthcontrol... she was on depo actually. Different BC affects women different, that just happened to be hers.
I've also heard that it is possible to have a non pregnant female, not on birthcontrol lactate - but it takes quite a bit of work. Same thing to make a woman squirt - some have the ability naturally, some can work towards it, and others just can't.

The only solution I see is for some of us to dedicate ourselves to drinking more milk.

IT is true that you can get a girl to "lactate" without her being pregnant. OVer stimulation of the nipples can cause a liquid to come out the nipple. BUt unlike breat milk naturally created after birth it does not have the same taste or properties. It may just taste like a watery version of sweat.

But be careful, not all girls are going to want this intense attention on their nipples. it involves a lot of deep sucking! Some girls find this extremely painful!

Good Luck!

i lactate and im on the pill, im not pregnant either.. im 22 and its werid .. going to see the doctor for it to find out if there is anything wrong with me.. hope not.

Just and FYI, BlueSugar, but the Depo shot does not contain estrogen.

Gee, no need to be tactful or anything

Sometimes lactation can occur without pregnancy, but it usually requires regulary stimulation of the nipples for a long time. However, there are exceptions to this: if a woman is very emotionally involved in the welfare of a child she can, conceivably, begin to lactate without much stimulation (or pregnancy) at all. I know this because I had this happen to myself. However, the conditions for this (and the times it occurs) are very rare. In my case, I was living in a very impoverished area, and my friend was too malnourished to keep breast feeding (rural Mexico--long story). I had a very close bond with her, and I felt very bad for her baby. And low and behold my breasts started to swell and I began to produce milk. So in my case, it was triggered by emotion; sympathy, a desire to help, some sort of mothering instinct (on some level). Somehow, though, I don't think this is what you're talking about. If you want to induce lactation in a willing partner (without getting her pregnant) you will have to pursue other methods, such as sucking on her nipples several times a day, every day, for a month or two in order to give her the necesary stimulation to begin producing milk.

Wow - in all my research about inducing lactation, I've never heard of this. Have you perhaps seen it documented anywhere? I'd be very curious to read that!
