I feel that I've been lax in my duties and thought it would be good to remind those that read my post that Life, the Internet and Everything is Meaningless.

There is no purpose, no reason, and no need to pretend otherwise.
You don't matter, I don't matter, and neither does anyone else.

Now, I don't expect argument or agreement and perhaps this isn't the best waste of time and space, however, it's times like these that I think it's important to reaffirm one's basic values. I watch the majority of people here run around as though they had some purpose and it just boggles my mind.

Comfortably dumb.

Well, that has to be just about the craziest thing that I have heard in a while. Everything has a meaning in this world it is just what you do with what you have that matters.

ya.. you're absolutely right

but don't we have to live with the fact that we know we're meaningless? At least people like us know that triviality is just distraction. There's comfort ... at least.. in knowing that we have no impact and that our lives have less meaning than the ant on the ground that we stomp b/c we are pissed that they sullied our picnic. *s*

It's so relative. It's so .... micro.

But at the same time, it is ours. It is OURS to make our little microcasm what we wish. So few people realize that we define our own existance. I can bitch and moan about my lack of this or that.. gripe about my relatives, rage about the inequality.. but ultimately the reality is that we can make a little difference in our own existance. And that means a lot more for people that define "their existance" outside of their own little bubble.

Have faith that there are others that believe their choices are made for not only themselves but also for the little people like you.... like me. It does happen. everyday.

*smile*

It's all good.

You matter to me, Never. I matter to my husband. He matters to his mom, and she matters to my Father in law. Inevitably, we won't matter or whatever else you want to give reference to won't matter, but this whole subject is entirely relative. What makes anything important, is, that for whatever it ends up being, that at some point it did have an effect, equvilant to a reaction, that meant something to someone, somewhere.

No, nothing has a meaning and, while I'm at it you, have nothing. And don't anyone go playing word games and saying 'Since I have nothing, and nothing has meaning, than I have meaning.'

No, we don't have to live with the fact at all; we could become delusional or kill ourselves, we always have choice. I, myself, find a little comfort in the knowing am as meaningless as everything else, I'd much rather be the most important, terrific, meaningful person in the universe. The very axis on which the cosmos spin. Wouldn't you?

Every quark, ever star, every navel lint in the belly of a chip as has an effect on someone, somewhere. That does not give them meaning.

You will die, your friends will die, your family will die, and when all is said and done nothing you do will be of importance.

Shakespeare helped along the English language and writers. Does that give him meaning? Nope!
You help along a shy girl you know. Does that give you meaning? Nope!

You might as well be discussing the worth of the Holy Spirit with an atheist here people.

It may be meaningless, but at least it's not pointless.

I haven't made up my mind on if it's pointless or not so I won't get into that..

Killer,
69?

I am not trying to change your view...only stating what I agree are my meaningless thoughts......(however profound they may seem upon awakening)

When I am dead the question of whether or not I had meaning will be moot ...who the hell cares...your dead....

but....RIGHT NOW I am important ...to my children who need me....and when I die it will have an impact on them ...it will change them in some way....won't mean anything to me...I'm dead.

I am important to my husband ...who without me ...would forever wander around the kitchen looking for the scissors.
He is important to me....without him my heart would break.

Life would be a lot less painful if we all saw ourselves as meaningless and didn't believe our actions to have any effect on others.
I don't think the "world" revolves around me or any one else for that matter but I do think some of what I do and say has meaning to others.

But then again....what do I know.

People are important to one another. I'm not arguing with this, I'm important to my mother, who's important to the Man, who's important to his current apprentice.

Everything, and everyone, is important to someone and has an effect on their world. Again, I have no argument against that because I believe it.

Does that make life meaningful? No.

This isn't a dig against anyone, or a call to wear all black, or to become an anarchist or nihilist or anything else. It's simply a personal view, one that isn't about to change.

I'm not trying to convert people, I'm speaking my mind, saying what I believe is right. I don't care if people believe differently - if you want your life to be the most meaningful thing since the 'big bang' then you're welcome to it.

Then again, I don't believe clouds have ever asked you if you wanted to get wet before raining on your head. I'm sorry if this has upset anyone - but it's not like a write a thread everyday expounding on what I think is true.

Don't worry. This too shall pass...

I don't know if life has a meaning. I do know it does have a point, and the point of life is to live as fully as you can. What that means depends on the individual. To some, it means joining the Peace Corp. To others, it means becoming an accountant. You just do what you can to make the world a better place. Use your talents to help others. Open doors for elderly folks. Smile at people. Shit like that.

Why does it matter if there is meaning to life as long as you are living and experiencing each moment. For some, to live and experience the moment means to deny meaning to our existance. I would never presume to argue you out of your rather bleak point of view.

Some people dance, make music and laugh bringing joy to others. I believe we are here to teach each other what a fragile thing we have and how fleeting. I had a sibling who taught me all about joy.

I held the hand of my dying sister and I believe there is a meaning to each life. I think if you were to experience this you too might believe it or maybe not. It is really your choice. All I know for sure is that I like to laugh and that's all the meaning I need for today.

Never, you matter to me!

And so does Life and all that goes with it, especially when my meds are working!!

Never's deep thoughts.

Hey Never, since that's the case...cool! I'm tired of folks being hung up on the small stuff and missing how much fun they can have just living life.

In the big world community I have no purpose, there is no reason why Im here, and I certainly dont matter.
But in my community, at this point in time, I have purpose. I have reason, and I do matter.
Its about how you look at things.
Globally, Im meaningless. Im nothing. But in my Community its different. Why? Because I have a role to play. Everyone has a role to play, and in their community, they have meaning, purpose and they do matter.
Im a volunteer fire fighter. If I didnt show up to a fire...a whole generation of a family would be whiped out. Who is to say that this family may not produce a child who could cure Aids or Cancer, or Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.
Im not too sure if this is what you were getting at. Its an interesting thought though.

I believe you get a 10 day grace period on car insurance so you are still "on time." That's in my state, anyway.

Fine I'll bite. Are you saying you have a meaning? If you do, what is it?
I've already written a thread dealing with an individuals 'importance'. Importance is a relative term - meaning is not. What's yours?

Cheyenne..
Oh no! Why did you tell me that?
I've finally get into the habit of doing this (almost) on time and you tell me I have a ten day wait?

What a load of drivel.
If your life was nothing, you wouldn't be here.
You'd have jumped off a high chair connected to a short rope.
I suggest Zoloft.*s*
