As if there was any doubt to begin with, Senate Republican Majority Leader Trent Lott has now made it official. He recently praised the openly racist, segregationist campaign of Strom Thurmond for President in 1948. Here are his exact words: "I want to say this about my state. When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn’t have had all these problems over all these years, either."

Even worse is the lack of any indignation over this from either the Democratic leadership in Congress or the corporate media.

AmeriKKKa-- rotten and racist to the core.
 
I realize there was already a thread on this, but it's such a big story, and so utterly revealing of the true nature of AmeriKKKan society, that it can't be emphasized too much.

It is a blanketed statement that anyone can use for or against any argument.

There is already more than ample cause for revolution, according to the Declaration of Independence itself:

No, I am not defending anyone or anything. What I see here is a provocative thread post that once again degenerates into name calling and just plain goofiness. Not only degenerates into it, but pleads for it to begin with.

Your short-term memory is shot, REDWAVE. I started the thread after you called me a racist. You called me a racist after I asked if I'd dug through to China yet since I kept dropping lower in your opinion with every post I made. I was dropping in your opinion because I asked if there was a country currently in existence that followed any tenet of your political idealism and suggested visiting it might be good for your blood pressure. I also said I liked having you in the U.S., but you ignored that bit.

People call you names because you rarely present a thread topic without ranting. You are a "character" in many eyes. In contrast, your responses on my thread to you were some of the most balanced I've seen. And remember how civil the tone stayed? It's all in the presentation.

Redwave's right on this one. There are a lot of charts to prove it. 10's of millions of minorities are trapped in decaying urban areas and Republicans conveniently want to localise funding for education. Recently they've started to slash ALL remedial college courses at 4 year and 2 year universities. If you fall a little behind, let say maybe because you went to the shittiest high school around--you're screwed--you are forced to community college or worse. They want immigration to end, they need to create more lower level workers that are desperate enough to serve. Lott let it slip...I already knew.
