Too many days stuck at home.

Yes, Madam, and very boring I'm sure.
However,
if this is the price you pay for recovery (or; deferring your presentation at the Pearly Gates), I commend you just lie back with a good book or your laptop.
The alternative is not a particularly pleasant thought.

All right. Nap #2 coming up.

Thanks. Most of the time, I have the patience needed to follow the doctor's orders. But it's difficult relying on others for so much.

Now That is Something I can quite agree to.
Fortunately for me, I managed to do OK with a phone, the internet and calling in the shop on the way home from treatment. Later wasn't much fun, mind.

Please, take it easy and discover something new, such as computer programming, Origami or learning ancient Egyptian.

Good Luck, Madam.

OK, that made me laugh. Thanks, HP. :rose:

I tried the ancient Egyptian, but it sounded funny with a Texas drawl.

I have discovered (again) that man, I just don't like "Close Encounter of the third Kind." It's a fine movie, just leaves me flat.

Also sending sympathetic thoughts.

I was hoping to sleep through and when I woke up and saw it was 9 ... then realised it was 9 pm the night before, not 9 am the morning after.

I had an interview for a small teaching contract that I really really wanted and hoped to get, but I fluffed some of the key questions :(. Hope I get the very dull contract which we are all competing for at least, or I won't have any work at all over the winter months :(. They have still not even called us in for interviews for that one, and my colleague (who has way more contracts than me) is also fretting about it - he has been promised it twice because he lost a couple of the more numerous contracts he already has. God knows what will happen with it. :(

Fingers crossed, Duchess. :rose:

Yay! Nice to know it's not just me! :D

Hoping it works out for you. *hugs*

This morning I heard some Beatles tracks I'd never heard before !
Good Grief; whatever next ?

Keep applying Naoko. They ought to recognise your talents.

Isolated blurt: Last night we went to see a (recorded) tranmission of a live performance of Mozart's Die Entfúhrung Aus Dem Serail.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Die_Entführung_aus_dem_Serail

It had been recorded at Glyndebourne. Glyndebourne can't really do live 'live' transmissions because they have a very long interval for those attending to have their al fresco dinners on the lawn with champagne, smoked salmon and hampers from Fortnum and Mason.

But, as usual, it was a great performance by young opera singers, some of whom have yet to make their names. When there were sex scenes in the action, those performing looked as if they really intended to do it on stage.

Blonde, the feisty English girl enslaved to Osmin, flattened her preferred lover to the stage several times and jumped on him to perform cowgirl style. Her partner's head was banged on the boards in her enthusiasm. At least once it looked as if his head was hurting.

During the rest of that scene both appeared to be having a great time. You can see a few seconds of it in this:

How the heck do people write all day?

I tried but my productivity is very low -- barely 2000 words.

If you could keep that up for nearly a month you would succeed at NaNoWriMo. To reach 50,000 words you have to write 1,666 words a day. I set my target as 2,000 words a day because that allows for real life interruptions.

I don't have a goal as such, but my aim is to write down my summer lovin' contest story and a conclusion to my Sci-Fi story.

I'm currently sucking at both.

Maybe I should try expanding my stored ideas for a change.

My stored ideas are currently gathering dust. Can't find the end of the string. . .

It is amazing.

I picked up a copy of the city's slick promotional magazine (it was originally started by the Chamber of Commerce but is now in private hands).

In it, after a diligent but exhausting search, I found at least two or three articles buried between 132 pages of advertisements for various kinds of cosmetic surgeries and residential real estate.

Among the scads of advertisements, I discovered that the preponderance were for various cosmetic surgeries. You can get:

Eyelid surgery
Neck lifts
Abdominoplasty
Liposuction
Breast augmentation
Breast lift
Body lifts
"Mommy" makeovers
Brow lifts
Face lifts
Decolletage lifts
Body contouring
Fat transfers
Tummy tucks
Micro-Needling (what the fuck is that?)
Body enhancements and...

last but hardly least, the good old traditional
Nose job

No wonder it feels like this has become a nation of hustlers, pimps, con-artists, frauds and phonies.

My stored ideas are currently gathering dust. Can't find the end of the string. . .

Just start writing with a definite end in sight, the scene will flow on its own. That usually works for me.

My problem begins when I try to be a perfectionist. I don't get it right the first time -- it's usually the third or fourth attempt. Just ask my beta-reader of one year. There have been countless edits to my story before I found my string.

God bless him, he didn't go nuts. :D

That's 2k more than me, so you're doing great! :D

2k is the higher end of the scale. Otherwise, I'm on the same page as you.
