That original story was long before Lit existed. It would be impossible as a Lit story because much of the plot was based on systemic, detailed, graphic bullying and sexual abuse of the hero as a child.

The rest of the plot shows the damaged hero re-inventing himself, eventually shaming his early tormentors, but when he becomes old and frail, they repeat the abuse in a different form.

So the story requires detail before age 18 that would be forbidden here.

Today is the last day I will go with Piglet on the schoolrun *sniffles*. She is going up to high school in September, so no mum any more. We are going to have a nice tea when we get home and watch a film (on our 43" tv , yes I know I said it was 42", I got it wrong - but an inch is neither here nor there, is it, guys).

Actually I feel like I can see freedom the other side of the door! Piglet will be able to come home and let herself in, and I won't have to feel I have to rush back to pick her up from school. I will still be here for her, of course, but she can be in the house on her own for a little bit if I am late back from shopping or meeting one of my colleagues.

As tomorrow is looking like a nice day, my friend Phoenix Mum and I are going to the seaside with the two girls. We went through so much together in the last few years. Now we are both settled in homes of our own and can get on with our lives so we are going out for lunch and then to the beach to celebrate.

Tax Forms have screwed me left, right and up the jacksy.

Being a Non-US resident, I have to pay additional tax on my earnings by a US based subsidiary (like Smashwords). My country is eligible for a deduction from the usual 30%, but I have to apply for a US unique tax identification number. This involves filling up forms, requesting a notarized application from Smashwords and what not. Plus, my PayPal account says my bank is refusing the transactions made on my credit card.

Nothing quite like equality, is there? If it was the other way round, it might be easier.

AFAIK, Extradition treaties are made equal, else no one would be willing to sign them in the first place. Almost all the commonwealth nations have one signed with each other.

GBR was something related to German businesses. I don't know exactly. Anything related to the corporate tax world goes way over my head.

The US can extradite any UK national without having to offer any proof of WHY they want to extradite.

The UK cannot extradite a US national without argument in a US court AND Congress took years to approve the US part, so during that time it was wholly one-sided. It's still one-sided, because the US can extradite UK citizens freely, and the UK can't without paying large sums to US lawyers.
