An arctic fox, so to speak?I would take umbrage at that, except I've never liked the word "umbrage." And, besides, I'm not gray. I'm "salt and pepper."
It's a Tufted Titmouse, natch.Isn't that a blue jay, not a tit?
Now owl be the judge of that.
I agree about keeping politics away from this board. More importantly, it's something that has repeatedly been stipulated by the moderator of this forum.I don't "mind" posts of that sort, or get offended, or think it's unethical or in bad taste. But I think it's good to have an understanding in this forum that it's not a "personals" sort of forum. There are other places for exchanging photos, or role playing, or inviting comments on one's appearance, or that sort of thing. I think that understanding is useful for keeping this forum more or less on the rails, like the rule against getting too political.

But I don't agree about the bold part. Who are you, and who am I to say what this forum is for and what it's not for? Why can't people post personal pics here, but can post countless picture memes? Where exactly in the name or the description of the AH does it say that this forum was meant for word-game threads? Or the threads about music, movies, casual fun, and whatnot?
To a degree, we denizens shape the forum with the topics of our interests. But let's not act like gatekeepers of this place.
A place for writers and readers to socialize and discuss the craft of writing.
This has always had the reputation of being a stuck up pretentious forum. All of us who participate in this forum have some "say" about what's appropriate to post here and what not. It's not shaming or "gatekeeping" to have an opinion on that subject.
And I don't take an overly restrictive view of what's appropriate and what's not. I take a fairly liberal view about that.
Here's the description Literotica gives for this forum:
That's fairly broad. I think that's a good thing. It includes the word "socialize," which suggests it's about more than just talking about writing technicalities.
But Literotica has other forums entitled "Online Role Playing," "Sexual Role Playing," and "Literotica Personals." There are other forums for personal photos. Others might disagree, but I think this forum functions better if we leave that sort of stuff out of this forum. One of the things that makes this forum work, in my opinion (and in my opinion it works very well), is a certain degree of impersonality. We're all operating under pseudonyms and all disclosing only so much about each other. This allows us to talk very openly about the subject matter of the forum--writing stories--without the conversation getting too personal. Based on my nearly nine years of experience in this forum, it's better not to get too personal. Things are more likely to get nasty and uncomfortable.
My impression is that most participants in this thread feel more or less the way I do, which also counts for something. I don't think we need hard and fast "rules" or "gatekeeping," and in fact I've tended NOT to favor over-zealous forum control, but it's OK to suggest to a newbie who wants to post flirty photos that there are other forums better suited for that sort of thing.
Personal pictures don't have to include the face of the person. I'm not really interested in seeing such pictures, but if some people feel like sharing them, why not? There's a no-nudes rule in effect anyway. All of us who participate in this forum have some "say" about what's appropriate to post here and what not. It's not shaming or "gatekeeping" to have an opinion on that subject.

The Victorians were seriously fucked up
The thing with gatekeeping is that it very much depends on which property the gate is outside. It’s not a neutral concept. Some people are very much for gates being wide open when it’s a property that only other people care about. But then they become very much pro-gate when it’s a property they themselves care about. As long as people's intentions are benign, I don't see a reason for gatekeeping. Once you start that ball rolling...
I don't have a problem with what the OP posted. A cleavage shot of a pair of "biguns" (as Al Bundy would put it) isn't even considered risqué by today's standards. Hell you see the same and more on mainstream TV. And I wouldn't by any standard consider the image "filthy".All of us who participate in this forum have some "say" about what's appropriate to post here and what not. It's not shaming or "gatekeeping" to have an opinion on that subject.

Much better version hereARTIST: Gilbert and Sullivan
TITLE: Tit-Willow
Lyrics
[Mikado]
On a tree by a river a little tom-tit
Sang "Willow, tit willow, tit willow"
And I said to him, "Dicky-bird, why do you sit
Singing 'Willow, tit willow, tit willow'"
"Is it weakness of intellect, birdie?" I cried
"Or a rather tough worm in your little inside"
With a shake of his poor little head, he replied
"Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow!"
He slapped at his chest, as he sat on that bough
Singing "Willow, tit willow, tit willow"
And a cold perspiration bespangled his brow
Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow
He sobbed and he sighed and a gurgle he gave*
Then he plunged himself into the billowy wave
And an echo arose from the suicide's grave
"Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow"
Now I feel just as sure as I'm sure that my name
Isn't Willow, tit willow, tit willow
That 'twas blighted affection that made him exclaim
"Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow"
And if you remain callous and obdurate, I
Shall perish as he did, and you will know why
Though I probably shall not exclaim as I die
"Oh, willow, tit willow, tit willow"
(a portion of this song was sung by John Wayne in The Shootist. His voice wasn't up to the challenge)
https://www.reddit.com/r/popping/ is the playground for you.Is there such a thing as an acne fetish? “Zits that inspire,” anyone?
I’ve had a few things on AH today that made me want tohttps://www.reddit.com/r/popping/ is the playground for you.
I don't think that's quite accurate.
SpicyBean's first picture post in AH was met with doubt, from me specifically. We all know that for every woman who actually wants to post her pictures here, there are likely fifty trolls or creeps who pretend to be one. I challenged her, feeling almost sure she was one of those, but she went out of her way to prove it, and then I apologized and welcomed her. I remember seeing plenty of fun banter in that thread after that.
There were a few more picture posts from her in AH, but then she moved to other forums, if I'm not mistaken, because the response here wasn't that large, maybe? IDK exactly.
But I can't remember anyone here saying anything against her picture posts? If there were such opinions posted here, then I regret missing them. I would really like to hear why someone would mind posts like that, but be completely okay with the deluge of memes, their own story links, etc, which we have every day here in AH.
Correct me if I'm wrong here. It might be that I missed something.
She said something like the vibe here was a little ‘gray-haired.’
HiTo my knowledge, I am the youngest user here at this moment (early 30s)
I think - based on three years experience here - that AH has reflected the pivot in society toward three [related] things:I'd leave it to this question: where is the line between healthy skepticism and unofficial expulsion from the board? Subtext matters.
I'm in my early forties, but I'm still well below the median AH age. It is what it is. For what it's worth, you aren't the youngest one here, to the best of my knowledge. @EmilyMiller should be a few years younger, and unless I'm mistaken, @Kelliezgirl as well.Somehow this. Is not just the generational gap that we have. To my knowledge, I am the youngest user here at this moment (early 30s), until SpicyBean showed up and then moved out. You can take this as a joke as much as you want, but jokes tend to have a grain of truth. Five years ago, I felt AH was like the most exclusive place of Literotica, as in you needed to have some sort of Platinum subscription that costs 10000$ a day, plus a daily supply of nudes to share between the users (don't take this analogy too seriously). Turns out I was mistaken, but the vibe still remains. Forget about the pictures; just this week there was one person asking where their non-con story should go, yet some authors were quick to point out their distaste without offering any real advice.
Do you see where I'm going with this? Is not just about pictures, really. If anyone wants to post selfies here alongside their stories, well, it's their lives, and I'm aware that trolls and catfishes do exist not just here, but everywhere. I'd leave it to this question: where is the line between healthy skepticism and unofficial expulsion from the board? Subtext matters.
ProcessingSubtext: an underlying and often distinct theme in a piece of writing or conversation. This is what I meant with my post.
Let me tell you about my first experience looking around Literotica's community side five years ago: I didn't even know where to start. The general boards were not definitely my type; they looked pretty much the same as a PornHub comment section. My interest was in AH, and to this day, it's still mostly focused in AH (though I tend to browse Story Ideas to see if I can help, the Poetry board because I'm learning how to do poetry, or PB [read only] because I am in the mood to rot my brain and I don't have access to a bad film so I rather watch people arguing like an old lady gossiping on their neighbors), but I didn't post more frequently until recently. The reason for it... well...

Wow. Make me feel unwelcome ... for thinking the exact same thing, ... but being older. There's definitely an attempt by some people to control the bounds of discourse on the site.
It's relatively common for someone to post a completely legitimate question and get mobbed by the tone police. Or snide remarks about the question,
Then the general comments that would make any new poster feel unwelcome.
It's all pretty juvenile.
There are a handful of us under 30 year olds, but the demographics here definitely skew older.
