I know an awful lot of people who can't seem to keep it to themselves whenever they see someone with a pimple on their face. They just want to pop it right away. It's satisfying for them in the same sense as, like, sliding a broom perfectly into a corner and cleaning the dust up, but I find it disgusting, and I don't want people on my face popping my pimples. It hurts if done wrong, and it can lead to worse skin problems.

I don't think that's quite accurate.

SpicyBean's first picture post in AH was met with doubt, from me specifically. We all know that for every woman who actually wants to post her pictures here, there are likely fifty trolls or creeps who pretend to be one. I challenged her, feeling almost sure she was one of those, but she went out of her way to prove it, and then I apologized and welcomed her. I remember seeing plenty of fun banter in that thread after that.

There were a few more picture posts from her in AH, but then she moved to other forums, if I'm not mistaken, because the response here wasn't that large, maybe? IDK exactly.

But I can't remember anyone here saying anything against her picture posts? If there were such opinions posted here, then I regret missing them. I would really like to hear why someone would mind posts like that, but be completely okay with the deluge of memes, their own story links, etc, which we have every day here in AH.

Correct me if I'm wrong here. It might be that I missed something.

…it seems pretty clear to me that the OP was simply told they’d put this in the wrong forum - and then teased with photos of birds. I don’t see anyone wagging their fingers in moral indignation.

The instinct to let people alone and be welcoming is admirable but, if you allow too much posting of this sort, then this forum stops being useful and enjoyable for everyone.

I would really like to hear why someone would mind posts like that, but be completely okay with the deluge of memes, their own story links, etc, which we have every day here in AH.

I don't "mind" posts of that sort, or get offended, or think it's unethical or in bad taste. But I think it's good to have an understanding in this forum that it's not a "personals" sort of forum. There are other places for exchanging photos, or role playing, or inviting comments on one's appearance, or that sort of thing. I think that understanding is useful for keeping this forum more or less on the rails, like the rule against getting too political.

I would take umbrage at that, except I've never liked the word "umbrage." And, besides, I'm not gray. I'm "salt and pepper."
