Is The Draft Coming Back?

Sooooooooooo, Byron in Exile and Pookie want to talk about who is crazy and stupid? Well now, let's show all of Lit exactly what crazy and stupid shit the draft supporters did that started all of "nigger" drama...

I have read this thread.
A thread is opened to discuss the draft.

LT announces his opposition to the draft.

WARMACHINE immediately threatens to kill LT's family and demands his name and address.

Byron in Exile refuses to admit that this is a huge meltdown of political intolerance.

???

Integrity!!!

You have a lot to learn about integrity.

From who, the likes of you? Inconsistency and avoidance of solid facts would be redeeming traits compared to the level of intellectual and moral dishonesty that you bow down to on a daily basis.

Now tell us again how WARMACHINE didn't have a fucking huge meltdown in this thread.

:D

As far as meltdowns go, it wasn't huge. I'd say it was about the same size as yours.

If you say so. WARMACHINE is getting called on his horseshit for saying he hopes I get shot for avoiding the draft.

I'm telling him if he wasn't such a chickenshit he'd offer to do it himself.

Now he wants my home address.

Who's the dork again?

Just as Jimmie said to The Wolf: Dorks. You both look like a couple of dorks.

And you both proceeded to prove it for months ... and months ... and months ...

:)

LovingTongue said:
You say that now, but back then you were all in league.

Your actions never agreed with your words.

I was too busy laughing at you two dorks ... for months ... and months ... and months ...

You can beware Bush all you want, but Congress must approve reviving the draft, and that's not going to happen. There are plenty of volunteers.
So tell me, why do you think Bush wants to bring back the draft?

Not going to happen unless we went to war with China or if North Korea went to war with South Korea now when we have a lot of troops tied up in Iraq and Afghanistan AND they proved to be as capable of a force as some fear them to be. otherwise in btween the draft we have active troops deployed elsewhere and in Europe, more reserves and National guard, and also troops who recently left active service but are subject to call up in a emergency for up to several years after they leave service.

After the rounds in Vietnam the only way a draft would start is in a World War.

I had 5 years of college when drafted, and my pal had a Ph.D. in chemistry.

The all-volunteer military doesn't get enough civilian talent.

Moreover, the all-vol military has some weird concepts such as the "warrior" notion.

The proper concept is the citizen-soldier.

Could the all-vol military win any big or prolonged war? Not likely.

Attempting to do another draft, however, would lead to a civil war.

Far too many people are out there armed and not willing to have their bodies taken over by the Government, experimented on, abused, tortured, thrown this way and that around the world, and then abandoned in somebody's foreign POW camp.

People like Makersandice will be the first to be put to the guillotine in that situation.

You're the one worried about getting drafted at age 32 so you will be stripped of your freedom to post in a porn board every single day rather than fight for your country.

Then you had the audacity to admit that you never want a son because you don't want him to FLEE the country rather than be drafted and forcibly sent to war.

Like I said, you're a pussy.
I served - voluntarily. I do not support a draft:

1) Besides the fact that conscription results in an inferior military compared to volunteer forces, the idea that a person can be drafted goes against my principles and I have no problem with someone avoiding the draft, especially when the nature of the conflict/war goes against their principles.

2) We haven't fought in a war that had much of anything to do with someone's freedom, much less our own, for decades - we really aren't fighting such a war now.

3) No person inherently owes another person or country or group their life or any part of their life. I have no duty to my country or to you except to respect your right to be left alone (as long as you respect my rights).

That said, a draft is highly unlikely.

And in this thread we have Pookie defending the draft and all the right wing intolerance that went along with it...

I think I'll stick with Merriam-Webster. It seems to be a bit more widely accepted than the "New Hampshire Gazette" dictionary.

"Chickenhawwwwwk! bawk bawwwwwwk!"

You actually used that in a flame, huh? No further comment necessary.
Poofster, defending the Right like the little neo con that she is...

You're living in a dream world. besides, the only way we would need a draft is unless the country itself were threatned directly with physical invasion in which case people would be more then willing to join.

A draft, two reasons, if there's a war, and if you leave the door ajar.

Try being the person enforcing the draft. It'll be a hell of a bad dream of a dream world for you... and your family. :)
