I am drawn to it as is a mouse to a Cobra. Their women are chosen for their beauty and their men for lack of brains. Their token 'Liberal' tries to imitate a puppy rubbing himself in the crotch of every visiting right wing zealot. They bought Geraldo Rivera who looks ever so cute in his Armanis in the middle of a token safe battle field (he actually was in a galaxy far far away a long time ago a journalist with a law degree). Laurie Dhue makes me want to do unnatural things with her lips.
So the question is: Is Fox News Network Fair and Balanced News?

While you write a great critique, I must ask whether any news network is fair and balanced? If you read most academics there is a definite leftist slant on the networks, and so in the name of free speech, and the political leaninngs of UBERmensch Rupert Murdoch, the Fox News Network provides a unique and necessary counterpoint.

what? you would dare express doubt that FOX is anything but 100% wonderful and honest!?

you are *not* being very american.

From a post I made last night.

Fox is fair and balanced, if the fulcrum is here:

<---------------------X-->

Gotta love that Bill O'Rielly! Sean Hannity too!
Forgot that they let MSNBC get Micheal Savage, crap!

Let the liberals "bash the hell out of me" tour begin!

Oh, I love to cause trouble today!

I fully agree with you - all speech, all representation in fact, is colored with pre-suppositions. The question is - to what degree is their news colored by their political philosophy? I think they are out and out right wing fascists with a heavy underlay of fundamentalist christianity - Tom Delay's personal favorite network.
Keeping in mind that all news is colored by the philosophy of the commentator perhaps the other networks should stop trying to be impartial and simply go for it.
I don't mind a bent, I just mind a lie "fair and balanced news" come on!

Yes, the academic Noam Chomsky says the same thing about the media being leftist

But I agree, no source is unbiased by nature, and I am ok with that. I don't think that any of the news sources should claim to be.

I am not - I was born in Germany but I did grow up in Brooklyn - O.K. it's that last thing that doesn't make me a true American.

Every news source is biased to some degree. That is why you gather information from several different sources and form your own opinion. I like Fox News, but the bleeding heart liberals hate it. *shrug*

LOL....I would prefer to see Hannity and Colmes include a third party...centrist preferably.

And Bill O'Reilly is a commentary show, not news. I myself watch him from time to time because I do get a sense that he is no BS...and fairly truthful, no matter what hat he may be wearing.

No more or less than any of the other corporate networks. They have a few more conservative broadcasters, though. But other networks have them too. That guy on CNN's morning show, for example, kind strikes me a a humorless Bill O'Reilly.

They're a little better than others about presenting conservative counterpoints, but again, only a little. For example, if you see coverage of an anti-war protest on CNN, you'll see the protestors, soundbites from their speeches, etc. But watching coverage of the same thing on FOX, you'll see the same stuff, but also a shot or two of the pro-war demonstrators on the other side of the street.

But fair and balanced is hard to find anywhere.

Searching in Syria,
Ellie

Anyone who considers themselves a journalist should be as unbiased as possible. So if you lean left or right, you're not a true journalist.

But just remember that left or right biased information is not news, it's propaganda.

Seriously, people, do any of the major news sources seem "leftist" at the moment?

Think about it. How would a truly pinko media source cover present events?

I think some of the individual anchors, reporters, etc are liberals on many issues, but the enterprises as a whole are definitely on the Right.

While I live in DC and strive to be impartial and objective in politics, I find it incredibly disheartening that to really know what is occurring in the world you need to read foreign papers. We are in a "shrinking world" as cliche as that may be, and knowledge of other cultures is a necessity.

Damn and I thought I came to literotica to talk about tits and flirt with hot women...@#$@#$@# ideals..:)

You would have to be very heavy to sit on the right - let's say my friend's cousin and you are really going to hit hard on the left. Fair and balanced

Everything that is reported contains some kind of spin. Even if it is minor. Like I said, gather info from several sources and put it together yourself. ;)

The labels: left, right, conservative, liberal etc... are thrown around rather lightly.

For example: If I call Kitty a liberal, she would probably have a shit fit...but I bet in more than one belief she has liberal views. If not, I would really love to hear why she is at Lit.

But everyone has liberal, left, conservative, and right views. Not many people, other than fundamentalists and extremists take pure views.

You don't actually call Colmes left wing - he is a mindless parrot trying to please his conservative masters.
