Hi Sol

I'm goodLooking forward to next weekend now and spending some quality sleep time in my bed
Quality time with a comfy pillow and soft sheets? Or popcorn and a good movie .
Or both ?
>Sol
Well I don't have a tv in my bedroom so it will be option A
But you've got your lap top and can play dvds, no? I'd skip the popcorn though—worse than cracker crumbs in the bed.
And yes, I'm up very early. Weirdly early.
Did any of you see Fintan O'Toole's piece is Saturday's Irish Times?

I haven't read Skippy Dies and only a bit of Foster (an except was published in the New Yorker earlier in the year as a short story) nor Tóibín's new collection (I don't think it's made it over here yet—may have to get to the Amazon.uk site). Anyway, this is Lit...thought I'd open the conversation to literature.![]()
I would never think of that.......I only watch stuff on the laptop if I have to.......like rugby matches when I lived in CA
Awake early and wanting serious conversation?? I'm barely functioning at this time of the day on my side of the pond
California or Canada?
Ach, I've been up since 6.00 (your time). It's like the middle of day for me now.
But what the hell, plant the seed...we can come back to it.
California
Wow - I thought I had odd sleeping habits!!!!! I only ever see 6 am from the other side![]()
Lol - I had to move back, I missed having 7 pubs on my doorstep.....Yes, I'm way off.
I wasn't feeling all that well yesterday, and I laid down to read around half five, before supper...fell right to sleep after two pages. Got a good seven hours. Which means I woke up at 01.00 (here—06.00 GMT). Strange indeed. It's going to be a long day.
You lived in California? And went back? Didn't fancy the odd weather, I imagine.![]()
Lol - I had to move back, I missed having 7 pubs on my doorstep.....
Well, you laugh. But it is a cultural thing. I rarely go out for a drink here (bring the bottle or wine or beer home); in Ireland I could walk into any pub and be made to feel like "a regular" by the second pint.
Well it was kind of a joke.......I did miss living in a city and having everything within walking distance
Suburbs are the devil, and the creation of General Motors. Even a small town (and what is a city really but a collection of small towns all grown together?) is the "right" scale for humans to live in and create society.
(How's that for serious conversation?) lol
Lol - you lured me into it!!!!!
I loved it over there, I just think I'm a bit of a city girl.........we'll skip over the whole growing up in the country thing. When I go home, I wake up to horses galloping around outside my window
Lol - now Sasaou won't come into the thread!!!!I grew up in the 'burbs, so I'm not particularly enamoured of them. Which is why I choose to live where I do. (In my apartment complex, there are roughly 50,000 tenants; we have our own subway station.) And while the sound of horses hoofs might make for a good alarm on the odd weekend, I understand.
Oh, know I'm tempted to see what else I can lure you into. Parlour, Ms. Fly?

Lol - now Sasaou won't come into the thread!!!!
And I'm sure you know I'm easily distracted......leads me into all sorts of fun places!!!

Because of the spider? Yes, she'll squash me.
Well, I won't be able to distract you any longer this morning—I'm about to leave for work. Have a pleasant day, Ms. T., and chat soon.

Well that was a great start to your day!!!!! What feat will you perform next?
I'm going to get dressed and go to Tesco! That's a feat in and of itself!! lol
