I met some fellas at a bar over the summer, who were thinking of starting an Irish Speaking group (this was off of Facebook) in Brooklyn. And the one guy said that he had this lovely conversation with a native speaker from West Cork once: his voice was lyrical and provocative. But he couldn't understand a word he said as Béarla. lol

HAHA

I so know that one.

And I work in retail sales

Grrrrrr - don't start on the Cork accent.........lyrical but not understandable is better than some others around the country!!!

For a small country, there's a lot of diversity. Even after almost fifty years of television's homogenising effects.

Try comprehending African , Pakistan etc "pidgin" English. Esp when the have NO grasp of it. Rough

Ah well, in my part of the Bronx, most of my neighbours speak Spanish or Bengali. Folks from the West Indies, Nigeria or Ghana are a welcome.

And it looks like you all had fun last night while I was being sick :(

Hay people. Hows this wild day been for you? And wilder weekend if reports are accurate.
Sorry for not saying high earlyer kotori

Nothing really wild going on for me. Feeling a little sick again, will have to see a physician if it persists.
