Democrats will be more than happy to submit the impeachment for trial in the Senate just as soon as they're convinced the party over country and constitution republicans agree to execute a fair trial... likely to include the requirement that everyone under subpoena has to appear and testify... including Giuliani, Pence and probably even trump himself. Seriously? You believe that Liz Warren, Chuck Schumer, Bernie Sanders, & Kamala Harris all need to STEP DOWN as jurors in Trump's upcoming impeachment trial in the U.S. Senate until they can demonstrate complete impartiality?

You seemingly don't understand our U.S. Constitution! It clearly states that while the House of Representatives has the power to impeach a president, ONLY elected members of the U.S. Senate have the power to determine his guilt or innocence! And presiding over this trial must be the Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court: John Roberts!

At the end of the day, trump was supposed to pay the money in March and that's when he began pushing for the Ukraine to perform an investigation that the FBI and the U.S. intelligence community had already told trump there was insufficient evidence to warrant an investigation. Month after month, trump pushed for an investigation... including sending his personal attorney to represent the U.S. and request the investigation. In the July 25 phone call which was supposedly about corruption, the word corruption is never ever used during the call. The FBI has never conducted an investigation and the Ukraine has stated there is insufficient evidence to warrant an investigation so they are not investigating. Word of a whistleblower was wrongfully leaked to trump and barr in August so in a subsequent conversation with Sondland, trump reverses course and says no quid pro quo (after he knew he might have been caught)... a few weeks later, when the whistleblower complaint was delivered to the Senate and House Intelligence Committees, trump released the money the following day... 6 months late... risking Ukraine and U.S. national security.
The Ukraine is between a rock and hard place... they have an aggressive Russia on one side that would gladly invade and take over their country (and we know how much trump loves putin)... and on the other side they have trump willing to do anything to be re-elected... so the Ukraine has to say no quid pro quo (for now) while at the same time, not conducting an investigation either.

Let's pretend that you're RIGHT, Freakyguy - and that Trump is guilty!

So what happens next? Well... he's already been impeached, right? That's like an indictment. NOW you send the whole matter over to a TRIAL which will take place in the U.S. Senate, correct? An indictment means NOTHING without a trial! The Senate will ultimately determine his guilt or innocence, as per the dictates of our U.S. Constitution. If he's guilty they'll find him guilty!

So... Let's assume trump is acquitted by the senate. That means he is not removed from office. Ok.
Let's assume he is republican candidate for president in 2020. Ok.
Let's assume he wins the election. Ok.
Sometime in January 2021 he'll be sworn in. Ok.
So, as former impeached president, impeached for breaching his oath of office, how does it work in 2021?
Does he swear to uphold the constitution (this time around, unlike last time) ...

Just musing on how it will go this time around. Also, the crowd size in 2021. I mean, it might be larger this time around, hell, I'd go to see that. How often would you get a chance to see an impeached president take the oath of office? Weird. Only in the USA.

The Democratic Party knows they have the truth and evidence on their side... but they've never been deluded into thinking that the republican party over country and constitution won't support trump regardless... which is precisely why Pelosi should bide her time and ensure EVERYONE who receives a lawful subpoena to testify is required to appear and testify... and all subpoenaed materials have to be provided for examination. If John Roberts and the SCOTUS does not enforce lawful subpoenas then the "trial" is a sham before it begins.

Let's wait and see if you actually get to say that a year from now. Never forget that Trump's win in 2016 was under circumstances that can't possibly be replicated under any circumstances. Democratic turnout was depressed in exactly the right areas due to the one-two punch of Russian meddling and an unpopular nominee whom just enough voters wrongly believed didn't need their votes. I do expect the Russians to pull the same thing next time, but now people will be on the lookout for it and less likely to be fooled, and no one will assume their vote isn't necessary.
