Illinois Governor Arrested...

Box - some conservatives routinely abuse their children.

Some conservatives enjoy cheating on their spouses.

Some conservatives have committed murder and gotten away with it.

Some conservatives don't care about starving children in the U.S.

Some conservatives cheer when people lose their homes in foreclosure.

Some conservatives . . .

This is exactly what you do. You pull these sorts of ideas out of your ass and post them as truths.

Generally, they have little to do with the topic being discussed.

You don't win any arguments, people just get tired of pounding their heads against the fucking wall.

What you say about some Conservatives is probably true. I have never heard anybody cheering about a home foreclosure, but it might have happened. I would certainly not deny it. You could probably say the same thing about some Liberals, but there would be fewer who don't care about starving children. There might even be some Liberals who cheer about home foreclosures, but I doubt it.

I know I don't win arguments. People just resort to calling me names and say they don't want to argue any more.

Way to go in just letting the point flip over your head, Box.

What point?

some of the issues with the housing market, first being so many people were given mortgages that were not qualified and should never have been given a mortgage. Second, flippers should receive no help as he or she took the risk and that is just cost of doing business.

Scientific research, I'd wager.

I imagine a certain amount of alcohol was involved.

:D

I doubt it. Looks to me like they may have used ginger ale instead - doesn't using ginger ale make the Jell-o set more firmly? I'd presume that one would want the firmest possible Jell-o for such tasks, don't you think?

I'm a firm fan of firm things, but even though "There's always room for jello" I'm not a firm fan of jello.

If you cut it with whipped cream it's tolerable.

But I haven't made it in years.

;)

I hadn't eaten it in year . . . until two days after surgery when nothing else would go down!

The only Jell-o that I've consumed in the last 30 years has been for two reasons:

1) The mother-in-law brought it to a holiday meal and I'm a polite host who eats a little of everything to keep all my guests happy.

2) Jell-o shots at a faculty party, well, just because being blasted makes it easier to tolerate asshats.

Double grins. :D:D

For the polite host with the most and the intelligence and cleverness to understand how to deal with pretentious idiots.

Are said asshats spread across the faculty or concentrated in a department or two? If I say where I think ours are, I'll get in sooooooooo much trouble.

First off, let me clarify that said faculty party is a spousal activity for me but I have attended plenty of them on my own accord as well. It's my experience that asshats tend to distribute themselves somewhat unevenly within any organization, though a large enough sample of comparable organizations (i.e., a couple dozen high school districts, etc.) would most likely reveal a nearly normal distribution across all departments.

In the case at hand, though, most of the asshats seem to be clustered among the athletic/PE department and those instructors who spend far more of their time and intellectual energy (such as it is) on coaching the major boys' sports.

Ah! In the elementary business, it seems that they are concentrated among the more "senior" females who reside in what passes for Language Arts. I shall refrain from further comments except to say that it is but a few who absolutely ruin about half the kids appreciation for reading but they do exist!

This is somewhat related to this thread, so I will post it here:

http://www.nowpublic.com/world/roland-burris-appointed-senator-3

The question arises: What happens now? Harry Reed says the Dems will vote against Burris, and maybe they will. Reed is Majority Leader but does not run the Senate. I don't know how the acceptance or rejection vote will go. If Burris swears he will only finish out the term and not run for election on his own, he might be accepted.
