so late to join in?

And condemn hundreds of thousands of allied troops to death by not being there in the first place?

:(

Don't make me pull up my "Hitler as Hero" thread. I'll do it and the whole goddamn joint will be upside down again!!!

Suffice it to say that America wasn't really interested in fighting a war at the time for the most part.

Let's leave it at that please!!!!

No! Never!

It's about time America started paying pensions to all those war widows who's young husbands were killed in action before America got its finger out.

:(

Oh my fucking God get the American flag out of your ass and go read a history book. You are TRULY getting to be the most boring person at Literotica.

Is there an emoticon that says "You make me want to throw up?"

i'm really confused. so... because america wanted to be isolationist just like all of europe , we need to pay pensions? and because england and france got all permissive with germany, its our fault for not stepping in sooner?

what's with the shit disturbing tonight?

ppman, will you give restitution for all those who lost familt members in the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812? What? The British don't want to pay up? Damn the Redcoats!

If America is thinking of paying restitution to all those "sufferers" of the slave trade, I can't see any reason reason why we all shouldn't jump on the bandwagon.

there is a difference between "america" thinking about doing something and a small slice of the population asking america to think about doing something.
and if we're all going to jump on the bandwagon why don't all the other countries who had slaves start paying reparations?

Well this is a lively thread. I think the only reason that America didn't join in sooner is because, excuse me for saying this their interests were not being threatened. They were helping the Allies in the early part of the war but they were not being attacked openly until Pearl Harbor.

I don't mind...

I can take it...

But then...

I'm British!

:p

hey peepee...i'm a history channel freak

maybe we just waited long enough so it'd be clear that the brits had been thoroughly whipped (again) so you wouldn't try to claim later that it was actually YOU who won the war

then again, maybe we were confused by all the concessions you all were making to hitler...i mean, you'd sold out czechoslovakia and ethiopia without blinking an eye...it's not unreasonable to suggest that the american leaders of the time figured it was best to wait and make sure who their allies really were

neville chamberlain wasn't exactly your finest, was he?

(shit stirring stinks...ewwww...do you ALWAYS have to do this?)

So... is Great Britain going to give restitution to all those who may have suffered at one point due to the slaughter, pestilence, slavery and repression brought on by hundreds of years of colonization throughout the world?

Or a better example might be:

Why don't we make the Swiss pay because they never took sides at all. Mexico, too.

How about we track down every last person that was alive during that period and give them all a sound spanking for "Not doing what was right" sooner or at all.

Just thank your lucky stars the US did get involved or you might just be saying "Gutten morgen" instead of "Hi" every day.

*rolls eyes* You think that the US should have gotten militarily involved sooner? Hell, so do I.

But then again, hindsight is 20/20.

Moron.

OK History Chanel freak check this out.

It was a close run thing that Britain didn't side with Germany in 1934-35.

We are basically of the same Germanic origins and in those days Britain had a strong and thriving Empire. Hitler wanted to have the overseas power that Britain had and Britain wasn't all that interested in Europe.

Logically the deal could have worked.

It's only Britain's treaty with Poland that got in the way...

Both Germany and the UK hated the Soviet Union.
