Just a tad sometimes and maybe more if I go out. I have no idea how to learn it though. I'm 26 now and I never even thought about it until a month ago.

I just learned how to apply nailpolish, don't laugh, it wasnt that easy :)

So, how do I learn, anyone know a good website?

I've been wearing purple and silver glitter nail-polish for the last week and I love it. I get weird looks sometimes, but I don't really care.

Honestly, I think the best way to learn is to get someone to teach you. Short of that, there's any number of makeover shows on TV or female-oriented magazines that offer makeup tips - just experiment, I'm sure you'll work out something that you feel looks good on you.

I've considered this before, and you would think there would be at least one 'How To Apply Makeup' site on the net. I mean, they've got sites that explain how to make pipe bombs, fer cryin out loud :p

Might take some courage and a couple of attempts, but many major department stores have sales people who demo products by doing makeovers. I am also aware that there are often times styling salons who will help patrons with their makeup.

Lastly, if you are in a relationship w/a female, is it possible she might be willing to help you?

How do you remove make-up though?

Good question, lol. When I was 16 I decided to wear mascara one night. Once my fun was over I spent at least 45 minutes trying to get it all off. The next day after my 45 minutes of scrubbing the first thing my mom says to me when she sees me is "John, are you wearing make-up?" Ah the fun that was feeling my stomach drop into my toes.

Ah, fate is a funny thing. So like 5 days into my wearing glittered nail-polish out in public and feeling fantastic about it I got arrested. Why was I arrested? Not too important to the story  , but picture it...

I'm nervous enough being in public with my nail polish on and then I'm being dragged around in a police department and when you get fingerprinted they do each finger 4 times and all 4 fingers at once 4 times. The cop didn't say anything about my glitter, but I was laughing to myself the whole time.

At one point during the booking they made me take my shoes off and if they made me take off my socks too they would have seen all the nail polish I had done to my toes. I made my toenails as pretty as I could since I wasn't ever worried about people seeing them.

Jail isn't the place you wanna be with painted nails and 2 days after completely waxing and Nair'in your whole body. I'm lucky nothing bad happened. I'll laugh about it someday.

This is a sucky answer...but practice, practice, practice. Yes, there are random websites that discuss techniques for specific looks. Like, for example, the ever popular "smokey eye" look. Sometimes, if I am in the mood to try something new - like that or whatever - I will search online. Usually, I know what I am looking for. *shrugs*

It depends what you want to wear...depending on your skin, eye, and hair colors (or what look you are going for) basic creamy stick eyeliner in a brown or black would be easiest to work with AND get off!!! Liquid takes a steady hand and is a bitch to clean up. Some of the pencils (though they are my fave) don't quite sharpen right - no matter HOW much you spend on them. So, a nice 'twist out' eyeliner from any basic brand (Revlon, L'Oreal, Cover Girl) would be easiest. Let me know if you want some more specific info.

Mascara, again it all depends...for starting out use non-waterproof. If you are going out to clubs, you will want to re-think this once you get a steady hand.

I love the eyeshadow pencils or creams when I'm in a hurry and just need something basic. You can go a long way with just 2 colors...and blending with eyeliner.

To be KIND to your skin, and if it's not oily, use some kind of lotion cleanser. Remember how the chicks in the movies always use coldcream? ;) Scrubbing is NOT a good idea...besides if you stretch your skin and damage it too much, you'll get wrinkles. *nods*

Feel free to PM me and let me know what your specific interests/needs are and I'll help as much as I can. I've never had much luck having someone "show me" how to do something - like the "smokey eyes". I just got the black, grey, etc and went for it - one major oops one day and after that I was fine. *giggles*

Good luck!

Might sound funny and please dont take this wrong -- go to the gay bars and ask the Drag Queens -- some will be very helpful

Here is some help

Just check out and see if there is a Mary Kay rep in your area.......they show you how to apply it and get the right shade for your skin. Remember they are in the business of selling make up and they do not care who buys it. besides I am sure your not the first guy they have taught how to apply maku up......have fun. I am sure if you go on google and go to the Mary Kay site you will be able to locate a rep in your area....have fun.......I have. :)

This is for a basic natural look lesson but it gives a lot of good techniques:

Oprah's Makeup 101

There is a video if you click on "Oprah as his first student in Makeup 101."

If you are a guy just starting out in make up, I'd really recommend the MAC Cosmetics line.

http://www.maccosmetics.com/

MAC originally started as a theatrical makeup company so they have a lot more dramatic colors and hues that are ideal for both male and female wearers. Plus they have great staying power. The make up artists at the MAC counters or the MAC stores are also typically younger and hipper and way more open minded then stuck up people at Chanel or Lancome. A lot of guys work as make up artists for MAC as well if you feel more comfortable with a male helper.

If you click on Looks and use the scroll down to pick one of the links (for this sake, Viva Glam http://www.maccosmetics.com/templates/looks/look_category.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CATEGORY13354) you can see that they provide you with a map of the face where you can see where the color goes and where to shade and blend. It's not going to teach you how to put on make up, but as you pick up more technique, you can look at these maps and figure out how to do the look for yourself.

I would not suggest Sephora. I mean they have some great stuff but they are crazy overwhelming. And the sales people are designated to sell specific brands so it depends where you are wandering what kind of help you will receive. If you know what you want and you know Sephora has it, it's a great resource. But as a first timer, it is very intimidating.

I highly recommend Kevyn Aucoin's books Making Faces and Face Forward. Not only are they gorgeous, but the man was a genius and his work is not necessarily something you can master right away, but it is something to aspire to and that helps just as much when you are starting out :)

I'm a girl and I wandered into this forum because I wanted to find out more about blowjobs :) but I hope this helps you. Honestly, the way I learned was a mixure of girly magazines like Seventeen, YM (when I was a teen), then Marie Claire, Mademoiselle, and Elle. Those magazines along with just playing around at a makeup counter and looking at celebrity photos and watching a segment on morning TV or a talk show here or there.

I agree with asking a drag queen. Those guys are frickin in the know. Because of them, I know about this gel you put on your lips that makes your lipstick unsmudgable. It's the greatest thing ever! Plus they know how to properly put on false eyelashes.

Anyway, good luck!!

How do you remove lipstick?

I find that putting on lip balm liberally (or Vaseline) and giving it a few minutes to absorb and THEN wiping your lips will get the lipstick mostly if not all off. The reason why lipstick stays is because your lips are dry.
