I work for a Landscape company. Several days ago while I was doing an inspection on a commercial property, a woman caught my attention. She was crossing a busy street, approaching from a residential neighborhood.

I see people walking around all day long and really never give them a second thought. But this woman caught my attention. She is older, mid to late 60's and well dressed. She seemed to be holding her hand as it became evident that she was walking towards me. That is when I saw the blood stains on her white slacks.

I went to her. She was terribly shaken, and had a very nasty wound on her hand. She asked for my help, saying she had been kidnapped and the man tried to rape her.

I took her to my truck, helped her to a seat on the tailgate. I fetched my firstaid kit out of the truck as i dialed 911 on my cell. I spoke to the operator who in turn wanted to talk to the woman. As she spoke to the operator I tended to her wounds. Evidently she had been shopping and upon eturning to her car a man forced her in and demanded the keys saying he would kill her if she didnt comply. They took off as he demanded her jewlery and cash. She explained she didnt carry cash and that seemed to piss him off, telling her that since she had no money that he would just have to rape her. She said he began to grope her as he drove and that she resisted. That is when he cut her with the knife he had. Figuring she was going to be trouble he dumped her in the neighborhood.
While she was on the phone I was able to flag down a patrol car. The officers took statements, etc. My time to care for this woman ended with them. I gave her and the police my card saying they could reach me anytime if needed.

Yesterday i was watching the evening news a story reported that the man and the car had been found. After a shace the man was arrested and was now in jail. Hearing that made my week. I cant help but feel a huge sense of pride. I was happy to help. Glad i was of comfort to someone in need.
It just made this a very special week for me and I had to share it with the world. What better place to do that than here?

Oh yeah, no better place in the world to share your good deeds then the Lit General board.

The feeling you have right now is it's own reward is it not ?
The Gods of Karma will smile on you for your kind heart.

That is a good ending to a terrible story of events that happened. Bad things happen to good people. It seems as though in the end, good won out and bad (or evil) lost out.

I would feel pretty good too. I always am smiling for people getting caught who commit acts like the one you told of. I am sure that lady was very thankful you found her (or she found you).

:)

I believe you. I got robbed last saturday. The shit you see on the news is real.

I am glad you were there to help her.

A good Saturday morning story

That was great - sad for the woman that her hand was injured, and the trauma of the threat... but great that:

1. It was only a threat, and she was alive and relatively unharmed.

2. You were there and able to help.

3. They caught the bastard.

I always thought you were a good dude, Orange Tractor Guy...

Have a great weekend.

Wonderful! It's good to know there are people that care in the world and take time to help others.

Reaching out to do a good thing is laudable, in spite of the outcome. One trusts you know inside the value of your actions. Very human of you, man.

here's a big ole texas "good for you bubba"...in this lawsuit crazy society i'm always glad to hear of someone doing what you're supposed to do without once thinking about any outcome other than helping someone...you're right to feel satisfaction in daring to help another human being...

Very well done, OldAllis

And thank you for sharing your story!

It is a great feeling to know you helped. :)

It is good to see that there are still some good samaritins in the world who are willing to take the chance and help someone in need. Great job, and I am sure that the woman really really appreciated it. Chewey

how am i supposed ot get in to rant mode with people like you doing good deeds ?
seriously i am proud of you
you deserve the lit iron cross with oak leaves for valour

Thank you for sharing your story, OldAllis. It's reassuring to know that Good Samaritans still abound. I'm sure that woman was extraordinarily thankful to have found someone as calm and helpful as you after her traumatic experience.

What a sad story with a glorious ending. Its wonderful to know that you were able to help her in her time of need. This helps to restore some faith in society, that there are still at least SOME people out there who really give a damn about their fellow man/woman.

They say 'what goes around, comes around'. OldAllisWD45 one day you will be rewarded for you kind deed :)

It always amazes me how people could not help a person like you saw, that they would not offer help when they could see she was in need. Those selfish people will get their own in the end....

A helping hand goes a long way :)

The first response got me

Share your good deeds here.
Share your good deeds there.
the Kharma will follow you everywhere.
