I never understood that feature.

If I want to read an old thread.. I'll look for it. I do a search on my name when I first log on anyway. I go by post. So I can see if anyone responded to me. If they did and I want to... I'll respond.

Well, it my be convenient for people who have email notification reminders through their IM systems. They would receive notice that there's a reply to threads they're interested in without having to hang out on the boards all the time.

I just got 75 email notifications, from threads I've posted on but not subscribed to. *shrug* That's why I have a seperate folder for any emails coming from lit.

I keep notified thru my e-mail/messenger. If I am on lit, my messenger is on and I get a notification that someone has responded to a thread. I can keep up on it that way.

Once you post on a thread, you are subscribed.

With the never ending threads or when something becomes more than I want to deal with, I go to my user cp and unsubcribe to that thread. Never another e-mail.

I use Yahoo. When there are a bunch of messages, I check the square next to sender which marks all the messages and then unclick the ones I want to use to get back to lit and then I click the delete button and all the checked ones are gone. One of the things I really like about doing it this way is that it opens a new window for each message. I read the thread and either leave it open or just close the window down.

It is not unheard of to get 50 messages in a short session when people are going crazy.

So, yes, Storm, I use e-mail notification.

If you are saying that you can't unsubscribe while you are in the thread itself, that is true.

If you are saying that you can't unsubscribe at all, just look in the e-mail itself. There are two options, "unsubscribe from this thread" and "unsubscribe from all threads."

Option C, I'm a clueless mutt and missed the whole point.

Hey, that would be nice; kind of a Trillion type thing. Having Lit send your instant messenger a notice/alarm instead of an email.

I get e-mail notification from the thread I have subscrib to ... but have that feature turned off for all the thread I post in.

For some reason ... the e-mail notification wasn't working the pass few days ...

yep had the same problem last night.

and I use MSN so everytime I get a notify it pops up on my screan.

okay I usualy don't mind that cause I'll get it poping up only every once in a while
but last Night I counted over 300 e-mail in the corse of 10 mins, so I shut off MSN for a bit I could no longer see my screan.

however I didn't get any e-mails from lit for 2 days before that,
and when I read some of the messages it was senind.

it was notifyin me of PM's I got a day before that and had read and erased.

I think there server was down and caught up at that point
