I hope McDonalds people get $15/hr

hey simpleton....

here is what happens....

min wage goes up, and the price to make your burger goes up...prices go up, so that wage increase becomes mute...

why not offer student loans, allow people to get an education to become something. after all (the fail on your part) wal mart and McDonalds are not career jobs unless you get into management or start to own burger stores...

you fail to realize burger flipper isn't a career....hopefully some day you will get that!

And here is another one from that same thread.

My personal feeling on this is that it's not an actual issue, really. Every time they increase the minimum wage or environmental regulations, we get a lot of sky-is-falling stuff, but then things just go on as always. All costs of running a business generally increase over time. Businesses naturallywant to pay the least possible and sell stuff for as much as possible. The reason there's a minimum wage is prior to it, small children were working 15-hour-days in American factories for pennies.

Also, you need consumers to sell stuff to. If wages are extremely low, then no one can afford to buy your product. If you actually care about your business in the long run, then you want people to be prosperous. At least, I do.

A big of government intervention in business keeps the whole cycle healthy in the long run, just like cops busting speeders help keep the roads safer and smoother-running.

Do you think Laurel is a simpleton, Jenn?

By ripping off the tax payers?

Bitches and whines for handouts....like the republicans are doing for these huge companies/billionaires??

You can't escape the reality of the RW assholery in this situation jen....your team got busted being welfare loving cock suckers and now refuse, REFUSE to take PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY for it.

Here's an example, consider you have a laptop you are trying to sell. You want to sell it for $200 and found a buyer. Just before you are about to close the sale, the government calls you and tells you that you can't sell your laptop for $200. The minimum rate must be $250. The government wants to make sure you are not getting ripped off. You tell them that you can't find any buyers at $250 but they insist that selling your laptop at $200 is not fair to you. How does that feel?

Then why is selling your skills any different? Increase the minimum wage and see companies reduce their hiring. If you want a better salary, improve your skils!!

You have some serious mental issues...pkease get help!

So what's it going to be Vette? Or any republican, ANY REPUBLICAN, who can find their spine.....:D

A) Make corporations pay their employees enough to not be on welfare? Oh the horrible socialist atrocity!

or

B) Keep min wage where it's at so Republican interest can keep subsidizing their labor at the expense of the tax payer? Freedumb!! Murikuh!!

You don't even try to deny it...:D just go straight to insult.

Your thought process is so whacked ....

You are the typical union person demanding a new higher contract ... u dont pay attention to the world around you .... then go into shock when the company goes under or outsources manufacturing to china in order to stay competitive

You do know that all union jobs are not in manufacturing correct?

I can't outsource...my bidnizz is directly tied to American air/soil/sun

Yes, Laurel, as I can discern in this post is being a simpleton. Is she a simpleton all the time? I don't know. Here's why I call this post as evidence of her being a simpleton.

Most of the arguments for wage increase pre-suppose one thing. That companies will exist and continue to exist profitably. To that point, she argues that its ok for company's costs to increase and increasing costs will not put them out of business. This is the main fallacy of all arguments like Laurel's. And then she argues that companies need government intervention to stay healthy in the long run, which is a circular and contradictory to the first argument. To the second point, Laurel argues that no one will buy a company's products if they don't increase their employees' wages. Why don't you leave that for the companies to decide? You think the government is smarter than companies about what is good for them? It has been tried before - it was called communism. The government with all good intentions tried to get involved in what a company should produce, what price they should sell it for, and how much they should pay the employees. It didn't work. It failed miserably.

I know what her response will be -- "well let's not talk about extreme situations here. I'm only talking about a small wage increase". What is small? Where do you draw the line?
