Illogical argument. One does not make any gun "safe". Even a starter's pistol will main or even kill if pointed at someone's eye.

One, however, can shift the burden of gun ownership from society to the owner. Just as nothing prevents you from owning a supercar or buying beachfront property, but as the owner, you take on the financial responsibility of paying exorbitant insurance rates.

The obstacle here is that gun owners want the "freedom" to own guns without the commensurate responsibility. Sure, a gun owner can be charged with murder should kill using their gun. But gun owners just want to pay their money and get their guns. Anything past that is an infringement on their right to bear arms.

But very few of them are part of a militia.

hmmm....perhaps I have already done all of those things....or perhaps not. As far as asking for opinions on guns was just that, opinions. The thread that the question was asked in, was a thread about guns, and those who were posting seemed to have knowledge of guns.

If you are that concerned that someone you have never met and hopefully never will could be of danger to you in that I only inquired about a gun on a thread, then perhaps your time would be better spent building bunkers around your house and stocking up on food and such so that you do not have to leave your house in case other people who actually know you or live by you might also be "thinking" about gun ownership.

Have not been to speak to the police at a station...no. I have taken a course offered by the police, yes. My husband was a gun enthusiast. He taught me how to break down a gun, clean it, put it back together and store it. He owned many different guns at different times. I didn't particularly like those that he had. I have gone to a shooting range and shot some.

So the answer to the above was yes and no.
