I have access to firearms

"The obstacle here is that gun owners want the "freedom" to own guns without the commensurate responsibility. Sure, a gun owner can be charged with murder should kill using their gun. But gun owners just want to pay their money and get their guns. Anything past that is an infringement on their right to bear arms.

But very few of them are part of a militia."

Here is what you and so many like you don't seem to understand. My right to own firearms is inherent. That right is not given to me by anyone or anything including the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment insures that my right "shall not be infringed" by people like you, the talking heads on MSNBC or any politician or political party.

Breaking News: Woman Purchases Assault Rife for Nine Year Old Son

Mom!

"Yes Eric, what is it honey?"

I saw on the news that they only have one AR-15 left at the Gun Store and I want it.

"Honey, what do you want it for?"

Tomorrow at school, I want to play Rambo for "Show and Tell."

"Okay honey, but I am busy with Chef right now. We will go to the store in a few minutes."

Why is my Mom always busy in her bedroom with Chef?

What is this?

Some sort of cruel joke?

Well that settles it. Two hundred-plus years of discourse on the Framers' intent solved in one post on Literotica.

The alternative is living in a fucking cage.

It all is living in a cage to some extent. We're not "free". And I doubt any of you actually want to live in the libertarian paradise that people dream about.

If you're not in a society, you don't have any rights.

Society gives rights.

So don't tell us bullshit like that.

Correct! Its quite simple isn't it. But understand that this has not been an issue for 200 years... only recently by people like you.

I think he means natural laws, those that supersede even the Constitution. You know, water, food, shelter, guns, wheel, M&Ms, etc.

Also the Supreme Court and its dissenting opinions...could you give them a call and set things right?

If by 'recently' you mean 'as early as 1791', then, yes! Recently!

Hooray!

I respect the right to dissenting opinions even when they are wrong... even yours. I don't live by them.

In your country maybe, here our rights are inalienable. Not granted by society or by government. The Second Amendment's own words suggest the right to keep and bear arms predates the Constitution itself.

I know that you believe this.

As much as you belive that the American right is not made by humans, but by God Himself.

And yes, I will never get that.

"rights" are like everything else.

A commodity to be bought and paid for.
