This might be better for "how to" but I feel more comfortable posting it here.

I'm going to get right to the point. I'm late. I should have started my "cycle" September 22-27 and it's October 9 and I'm still not there. I was at the hospital on Saturday and they did a pregnacy test on me and it came back negative. Should I be worried? Is there anything I can do? Is this normal?

Thanks
Basia.

Did you recently go off of the Pill? That's what happened to me when I went off of it... they can give you something to induce your period and then after that you will probably be pretty regular...

Stress can affect your period. Also, being overly active, and not eating correctly. Don't panic about a pregnancy unless you miss your next one. The stress from worrying can cause you to miss another.

Hope it turns out the way you want it to. :)

My friend missed her period and she went to the gyno and it turned out she just had a small cyst and judging from everyone else's responses it seems like missing it is very, very common and nothing to worry about. I hope everything turns out for the best.:)

Lossing weight can make that happen also..................I mean you have to be at a low weight but it can happen........

My wife got really ito lossing weight for a while so bad it was almost a big problem but when you get to 110 lbs and around there it can happen....
I read up on it then and many Gymnasts don't get there period or when they do not very offten..........

Alot of female athletes don't, because they are so active.

Basically, there are a TON of reasons aside from pregnancy that can make a person miss a period. Just try not to stress, because that doesn't help.

If you had a pregnancy test at the hospital vs. a home test and it came back negative, that should make you feel fairly confident that you aren't pregnant.

I've never missed a period in 31 years since my very first one, although I have read that missing them is common. I think it may be normal for some women to miss a few here and there, but for others of us- never. You have to know your own body and what is "normal" for YOU.

not to panic you but tests can sometimes be wrong...with my first child the doctors test came back negative...3 weeks later when i went back, it was positive. You should restest in a couple of weeks, just to be certain. Good luck!

Thank you all for your replies... The thing that has me worried is my cramping. I've been having violent cramps since Monday. I'm going to try and put it out of mind, but the craps are taking a toll on me. I'm leaving school early because the cramping is too much for me to bear. I am deffinatly going to my GYNO soon to be checked out. I'll keep you all posted on the results.

I actually had a heart to heart to my mom about it, and she said that she had bad cramps her first week with me, so I'm still leaning towards that. Yet, I over heard her this morning talking to my dad.. She said something about taking me to the hospital if I don't get it by friday... but like I said, I'll keep everyone posted.

The cramps, is that something you normally get at that time of the month? If not, then you really should have that checked soon! we don't know eachother and this may sound silly, but now I will worry about you :) please, don't wait to long before you have it checked out. I'll be watching for your posts!

Best of luck to you!

I had severe cramps which led me to the doctor to low and behold I was pregnant. IMHO I would get checked out ASAP, if not to at least put your mind at ease.

Best of luck,
Blondie

I too had strong cramping very early in my pregnancies.
Don't panic but if you are not pregnant then the cramping could be serious. Get it checked out ASAP either way.

I went to the er, because my mom was getting worried about me and here's the prognosis:

I am not pregnate, I am clean of every possable std...

However, I may or may not have a sist on my right ovary. I'll be finding that out by monday. The doctor thought it might be stress, but I'm not sure about that.

For the time being, I'll be sitting here, waiting for my period to come, and by god I never thought I would say that.

Thank you for your consern.
