The movie. Best Buy finally managed to have it on the shelf so I snapped it up. I haven't watched it yet but a lot of people here have recommended it.

I feel like poo, someone come and cuddle with me. :rose:

It's fantastic, you're in for a real treat!

Something must be wrong with me, I didn't much care for it. I can't even really say why, other than it just bored me. I'm more the blood and guts type, chop off a body part or something already.

That movie was great. I watched it with a female friend of mine. She was just rapt with attention through the whole thing. Loved it.

It's a good flick, the final shot where she just stares into the camera like she's daring you to judge her is awesome.

Feeling any better Betticus?

Awwww, well have they at least given you pain meds? Might need something with a mild muscle relaxant...silly as it sounds midol might help ( I swear my dad takes it for back pain!!!).

If what you've got are back spasms and you aren't taking pain meds you either have an incredibly high pain tolerance or are simply being foolish. Those things HURT and not in the good, begging for more, kind of way.

Dom's don't need pain medicine.

I always thought doms dish out the pain, but don't like it so much themselves? (Yes, I know there are those with masochistic needs and it's all labels...)
So I would think doms do need pain medicine, subs don't...

High tolerance.

I loved it and I hated it. I think I loved the IDEA of it, but the end result was a bit cliche`. I think it would have been much better without...

a) the whole "I'm fucked up, I cut myself and BDSM shall save me!" thing

b) the whole "I'm anal and can't get a date to save my life, thus I must be into something strange like BDSM!" thing

c) the end with her in the dress on the desk refusing to move, starving herself and making a public fool of herself was about as based in reality as Alvin and the Chipmonks.

d) the transition from a discipline type spanking to playing ponygirl and whatnot was a bit drastic and not-very-believable.

However, there are some things they captured extremely well. How liberating spanking and BDSM can be. The complications and confliction of emotions in both of them and the improper way they handled it (by him just suddenly cutting her off) was very enlightening too, as this is a very common problem in BDSM relationships. The whole "bratting" concept of hers, while not my style, was something I see as very common in BDSM although most will violently disagree, I think if you take a real hard close look, you will find this kind of manipulation very common.

I think had they toned down on some of the more cliche` BDSM elements and had the characters be a lot less fucked up, it would have been something that the general public could enjoy and even understand a lot more. But since when has Hollywood ever been able to do "reality".

hey...some of us cool kids roll that way.

huh?

I'm referring to the movie's hint that the only people that could possibly be interested in BDSM are those with psychological/social/mental disorders like the girl in the movie. And the guy too, for that matter.

I myself am into cutting with my partner, but we do it because we enjoy it and it's a turn on, not for some unhealthy, hidden, or psychological reason as the movie indicated.

I actually liked it, including these elements, because I see the whole thing taking place not so much in reality as it does in her psychic reality, FROM her POV. The whole look of the film has this weird otherworldly feel to it...it's definitely not realism, and the part with her sitting at the desk is where it takes this sharp break from any kind of reality at all...it's almost like a magic realist film.

Agreed.

All these bizarre characters come in with their differing opinions... very surreal.

I'm one of these odd people that likes to watch movies and TV that are as close to "real life" as possible, or completely fantasy. I don't really like the mix of the two. I like stuff I can relate to, or dream about. Probably why I don't really honestly LIKE a lot of movies, and the ones I do are completely fantasy (star wars, star trek, harry potter, LOTRs, etc)
