Hurricane Check In Thread

I was surprised myself to see it stickied. Thought Laurel and Manu weren't suppose to be influenced by posters here...

It's been awhile but the GB has had stickies. Q's thread is certainly not the first. He's just the first to ask in quite awhile.

Great thread, Q. I hope everyone is doing well. I'll keep checking in to see!

Hi Guys . . . for those of us outside continental USA . . . is there a link anywhere to show the relative locations of this hurricane and the affected cities?

We don't get much vision on TV over here, and this is a bit frustrating because all the Litsters that I have met come from allover, including some from sopmwhere in the hurricane zone. :)

Try Mapquest.com, search for any affected city then zoom out to see a wider area.

Should work for you.

Try this
Weather Radar

By the morning's light

BAton Rouge came through with little damage. The power is out in parts of the city. We never lost lights where we are. The wind is still very strong and heavy rain.
Otherwise, all is OK.
My friend at the hospital in Houston tells me the people who sheltered there are leaving this morning.

Ha! Well said. Honestly, it's a sad reflection on one's motives when there's more energy poured into the legitimacy of a sticky thread, than the reason behind it. Good God.

I hope everyone gets through this okay - and you all stay safe and secure. I can only imagine what a terrifying experience this must be. Great thread Glamorilla - thank you for making it :).

Wrong gay guy, hon. :)

How come there wasn't one for N.O? Just curious.

Perhaps there should have been, but no one seems to have thought of it.

Of course, the assholes who are crying about the temporary presence of a sticky thread would be pitching a bitch if there were multiple hurricane threads, wouldn't they?

And, I didn't make the thread a sticky. I asked Laurel, and she made it a sticky. If they don't like how she runs her site, perhaps they ought to find some other forum to enlighten with their insights.

I think it's just that the number of Litsters who live in this part of Texas is vastly larger than the number of New Orleans area posters. Apparently poor blacks aren't getting free internet yet.

Maybe KS can take that up with public assistance.

The thread was a good idea. Otherwise there'd be 85 Rita threads all over pages one, two and three.

Well, you've certainly shown everyone what kind of person you are.

I was thinking the same thing. I'd expect such crap from some of the trolls here, but Nawtee surprised me.

Ditto. I think we learned with Katrina, too, that there were more than a few threads asking how people were. Putting all the questions in ONE thread that is easy to find is a great idea.

Best post of the Thread!

Here's a thought..

Don't live near hurricanes you dumbasses.

Here's a thought, hold your breath until you no longer need it.

I seriously can not believe I am surprised by the cold hearted, ignorant comments made by people like you. Yet, I am. There are people affected by hurricanes that do not live in the coastal areas. For example? Western NC, the Appalachians, dealt with floods due to the immense rain fall accumulated by several hurricanes hitting the south last year. Do those people live on sand?

Seriously, I hope people like you and Sleeping Warrior never need a bit of help. Because when you do, I'll look the other fucking way.

Hey, raindancer! Good to see you. And I'm glad you're NOT in the middle of the hurricane this time. :rose:

Please check in on this thread and let us know how you are doing.
Let's bring this back around for the purpose it was made for please.

Hey darlin', it's good to be seen. ;)

I know my post was harsh. I just feel quite a bit of empathy for the folks down south.

We owe you an email.

You know me, I'm full of wacky ideas. Like the idea I have about not giving a cent to anyone who lives in an area where disasters are likely to occur.

Disasters can happen anywhere, moron. Tornadoes, ice storms, earthquakes, hurricanes, forest fires...not to mention large cities with big buildings that planes can get flown into.

But I'm sure none of the people that live in an area that things like this could happen in will care too much about not receiving any of your non-existant paycheques.

Great thread idea, Q.

Nawtee, you're a twat. And KS...well, we already knew you were.

Exactly.

Some of you fuckers aren't happy unless you're bitching and moaning about something ... anything.

you're right. can we get a bitch and moan stickie and keep all the whiners in there?

Welllll ding dang it! Looks like now that we are not hardly if even get to see anything from Rita out my way (about 50 miles west of DFW), she hooked to far east and all we are seeing now are the very outter bands and a little of her hot air! We could have used a little of that rain she is going to dump out our way.

Why the big deal about this? It's a good idea......but then, someone will always find fault and you know who you are.

Cheers MG. Glad it didn't blow you......away. (You and Tank are the only Texans I know in here.)
