12 days until pitchers and catchers report to orioles spring training. Of course, that's only if their parents let them leave school.

(For those not initiated in how awful the Baltimore Orioles are, that joke refers to the fact that we have NO serious major league players, and the players we do have are very very young and underdeveloped.)

By my book and most people that pay attention to such things, it starts March 1st. It's only the stargazers and myth followers that use the other mid-month dates.

Spring: March, April, May
Summer: June, July, August
Fall: September, October, November
Winter: December, January, February
