With all the chatter about commuting problems, I'm just wondering how far away do you live from work?
How do you get there?
*I live 2.5 miles from the plant, I can walk on a snow day in about 30 minutes.:D

Work?

LC,

What is this work stuff?

Snow, wasn't that outlawed?

Move to sunny Texas and give up all that shit.

I tried it in the past and moved on to the future

Why yes, I am looking at Texas, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, and Oregon. Of course, I keep remembering the phrase, "Be careful what you wish for...you may get it"!:D

Denver area: 20 miles = 45 - 60 min.
snowed out: avg. 3 days each year

Around the block which is about half a mile. No snow days because if you can't make it to work they send the local PD to pick you up and drop you off.

I don't know ......

something like 1.5 miles

too close actually

guess who they always call first when they need someone to cover a shift

I live 15 - 20 minutes from the office. I think maybe 13 miles.

I have a rule that I've followed my entire career. It frustrated the crap out of head hunters and an outplacement agency that got stuck with me for a few months a long time ago. I won't even interview for a job if it is more than 25 miles from my home. And I'm not moving, period. I love my home and my family is right here. That comes first, a job is just to support having those first things that are more important to me.

since my job is a student at the moment.. i live where i work.. got no choice in the matter.. if you want to say that where my classes are is where my job is, instead of my dorm room.. then i live about .75 miles from my job (that's for the closest class)

Yeah, but then whether you drive, ride or walk, it takes you, what, 15 minutes to get from the parking lot to where you actually work?

LC works in the largest building in the world by volume (472 million cubic feet) according to the web.

I've got him beat; I walk about 20 feet from my bed to my computer and I don't even have to get dressed. ;)

LC - when was the last time we had snow? Last winter for about a week? That was actually kind of fun.

Well..

I really don't have a job.. My parents refer to school as my job, so in that case, I live about thirty miles from the university..

I don't know yet - I'll tell you when I find a job in my new home - Kalamazoo, Michigan:D :D

Moving this weekend!!

Heyyyy!!!! Welcome to Kalamazoo!!!

Depends on which site I have to go to. About 15 minutes tops on a bad traffic day. Usually 10 minutes. I couldn't stand commuting any longer than that anymore. I used to do the hour commute...never again!

Speaking of which, I need to get my beautiful mermaid butt into the shower and off to work.

Have a great Monday all!

last time I worked, LEFT out my bedroom door, down the hallway, RIGHT down the steps, and another RIGHT at the bottom of the steps. Plop ass in chair, start computer, work.

Drive Time

Little over a 40 mile commute each way but no worries. I love to drive, its mindless for me and the only real time I settle down. The rest of the time I am wide open going full bore. The other side of the drive is that it gives me time to go from my office persona to being mom. If at all possible I try and not mentally allow work to come home with me since I am a single parent. I don't get that much time with my son so I have to make what there is count.

I realize I got a little carried away and so I will apologize for that.

how far to work?

Down the hall, just past the bathroom, last door before the living room. Coffemaker in the kitchen / conference room / breakroom.

No paid vacation & no snow days, but we do occasionally take an afternoon sex break.

*looks at watch*

Break Time!!!

Kit

I drive 34 miles each way. It takes me about 40 minutes on a good day, longer when we have lots of snow (I live in the UP). Of course, I drive a little slower when I know the deer are running around during their mating season.
