How do you guys (gender-neutral) do it?

i’m bipolar type II so I can only write at certain points in a cycle. That point makes me publish ASAP and very anxious for results. (See bipolar and hypersexuality)

I have ADHD, my neurodivergent sister. It is so incredibly hard to write when I don't want to, so hard to not write when I do, and almost impossible to sit on stories unless I have an absolute need to do so, like with contests. Add in rejection sensitive dysphoria, and its attendant praise-seeking, and, well... My comment above about panic writing just before a deadline is only half a joke, because it drives me nuts to hang onto the stories; I end up imagining all the ways people won't like them until I let them loose.

I hear you. I wrote a Fourth of July-themed story recently, and I'm going to publish it as soon as I'm done revising because I can't wait.

For me, though, it's less about being unable to slow my pace (my pace is pretty slow) and more to do with not wanting there to be too huge of a gap between stories.

Writing? Drafting? Editing?

For me: first draft is always sloppy and dialogue is sketchy as hell. First draft sits on computer/paper for a week or so, or until I can stand to reread it (have been known to leave stories for months).

Drafting process involves a lot of printing and editing on paper.

As for ‘doing it’ … well, been a while since done that.
