How Come? Lit geek question

There were nine "Reply to post" e-mail notifications from Lit waiting for me today. That came as a surprise since I have that feature turned-off. Turns out the last post on one thread was late September, 2003, All the others had last been posted to back in October, 2003.

Which leads me to ask: Has this happened to anyone else? Does someone have some idea as to How Come?

At least 1000 apologies if this has been mentioned on another thread.

I think there has been some idiot who's been bumping old threads. I haven't noticed, cause I've apparently got them already on ignore. So it's either Brinnie (for the constant scat) or IWantMyName (guy who was fucking up the formatting of the AH with thread titles a while back).

I think that turning off e-mail notification is current and not retrospective for old threads. Most threads have a limited life and then die, so the e-mails would cease for older threads within a few days of you turning the notification off.

The notifications you received would be for the recent troll-bumped threads.

Thanks for the suggestions. But the weird thing is none of the threads had recent posts. They last post on most of them was back in October, 2003. Unless we can now delete posts, I don't see how someone could activate them w/o leaving some footprints. But then I'm about blind as a bat both literally and, when it come to computer and net stuff, also figuratively.

If all else fails I'll ask Manu. But first I wanted to find out if anyone else had experienced the same thing.

The offenders have now been deleted from Lit. Therefore all their posts will have vanished, leaving no apparent trace.
