I don't think that's really true though, I mean any "type" tends to hold all the traits she listed, they vary to the individual. It's entirely possible for a masochist to hate challenge and ordeals and say have a focus on attention and reward. Or a pet who's completely about service (though I've seen a puppy actually tell her master "I can't get you a drink sir, I'm a puppy and puppies don't do that!" I just cringed). I don't know, I really don't think you can judge the content of a submission by the type so much as the flavor it comes in. *shrugs*

Other than that, I can understand what you mean when you talk about being in control in a scene and having the ability to just get up and walk out. I hadn't actually thought about that earlier, never been in a position where I could but that's a good point. I just think that you can sorta tell what flavor people are by their answers, and I believe that mine reflect what I already knew about myself. I mean, you can look at how I answered and see I'm not an "absolve me from all responsibility and force me to do things" sub.

Obviously, the categories don't include every little nuance of a certain person's submission, but I think you can tell a lot about them by what they answer. Does that make sense? They're a fairly good way to generalize--you get a fairly broad classification--, and anything else that's left in question can be clarified by more talking.

Hun, I'm sure you're a sub/switch(which ever you see yourself as) and a lovely one at that.

I was thinking more that all subs have the core service (this could very well be emotional service as well as something like cleaning), relinquishing control/ helplessness, punishment/redemption (could also be considered problem/forgiveness), sensation play/mental play, challenge/ordeal with varying degrees of intensity, not the questions she asked in the beginning. Though now that I think about it, even vanilla relationships have those core traits just in a more.... vanilla sense. I mean it may not be obvious at first look in a relationship because they aren't necessarily turned into a kink. But I mean yeah I guess certain forms of bdsm relationships do... exaggerate parts of that list more or less so I do understand where you're coming from though.

Also, I have a problem with the "absolve me from all responsibility and force me to do things" question, not because it's a bad question per se but because I find it to be a red flag and I know so many subs who would answer it with a 10. I mean, any relationship should have shared responsibilities, even in the most extreme TPE relationship a slave has responsibilities to themselves as well as their Mistress/Master. Yet we all know people who feel that subs/slaves have no responsibilities and they just follow orders, sit 24/7 in cages, don't hold jobs.... and so on. I mean, okay, I'm not going to tell people they can't have that dream just I'd be worried if that's exactly what a slave was looking for in a relationship. There is a big difference between "absolve me from all responsibility and force me to do things" and say "absolve me from all control and force me to do things". I think those are all really good additions! The distinction between physical and mental/emotional was what I was needing and looking for.

True that. I think I landed middle of the range in a lot of things, because of those things.

Also, for me, a lot of these questions, my response changes depending on the circumstance/situation.

eg. Do I want to be helpless, vulnerable, rely on someone for every little thing? During play, yes, that's hot. But in life in general? God no, the thought terrifies me.
