People don't like honesty. Not here, not in real life, not ever. Honesty sucks and it tears away our happy little illusions. So its best just leave it be.

This is an awfully cynical thing to say and I wholeheartedly disagree with it. Honesty may hurt at times but I would rather have it than my illusions. Eventually illusions, or the breaking thereof, end up hurting worse than honesty anyway.

If you took my disagreement with you as dislike then you need to rethink that. And to deprecate yourself because of it is just wrong on your part. Liking or not liking someone has nothing to do with whether I agree with them or have my own opinions. If you have had bad experiences then I would venture to say you have either had them with very superficial people or possibly, and this is not a judgement at all since I don't really know you, the delivery could use some honing. My experience has been that overall most people appreciate honesty... it is hard to hear at the time many times and so might erupt in some emotionally charged conversation... but eventually the truth will out.

Ok most people come on here for fun and a bit of escape. If you are lucky, you might meet people that you like.... and this can be good or bad thing just like the people in one might meet when you are not on Lit or the internet. If you think about it, people in our lives can be dishonest and dont tell us everything and Lit is no different.

That said, for those who are purposely on here and they all they do is use and consume others, karma is a bitch.

That's the thing about honesty-- you express yourself gently if you can--and you can't worry about being liked or not. That's not the point. You either be sincere, or you're lying. It _is_ that black and white IMO.

I've been lied to, screwed over and manipulated by men here on Lit. But truthfully, it has happened off of lit, too. Maybe I'm just a bad judge of character at times.

I have confronted this behavior when I am made aware of it, though. I'm able to stand up for myself a little better than I have before.

So many will lie for the sake of "convenience" and then never respond when asked "why?". The thought of what it does to a person's belief in what "was" is not important enough to merit a response. These people are cowards...and I've been unfortunate enough to have met a couple of them. Regrettably, it has colored my reactions to any new encounters I have.

Its a pity those who do these things, dont get it and might relish people's pain and I feel sorry for them.
