Well, I don't see the problem. If girl best friends can see each other naked, why can't guys do the same? Not even just totally gay people, but all guys should be able to feel comfortable seeing their guy friends naked.

same point though..men especially have a image that can't be tainted, and what if they have some well kept secret fantasies concerning other men..being naked with other men might be arousing enough to give themselves away..they'd be found out..and their macho hetro image destroyed!

just a thought though from a girls perspective!

Yeah but if society now says it's ok for women friends to watch each other naked, why not men friends? Just doesn't make sense why one would be acceptable and not the other. Before men could swim naked with each other all the time and no one would care.

a lot would change if society would change, which is never going to happen if people keep hiding who/what they really are.

you're right though, 2 naked woman together regardleess of setting is far more acceptable then 2 naked men

Makes no sense to me, by the way could you see the delicious picture in the first post?

In some circles it's OK for guys to see each other naked. Jocks, soldiers, etc all shower together and stuff.

Personally, I just prefer not to get naked around ANY of my friends as opposed to lovers.

I don't know either, but...

There are those who've made homophobia work for them, as the following story illustrates. :D

By the time Willard pulled into a little town every hotel room was taken. He finally pulled up to the very last hotel and went into the office.

"You've got to have a room somewhere," he pleaded. "Or just a bed - I don't care where."

"Well, I do have a double room with one occupant," admitted the manager, "and he might be glad to split the cost. But to tell you the truth, he snores so loudly that people in adjoining rooms have complained in the past. I'm not sure it'd be worth it to you."

"No problem," the tired traveler assured him. "I'll take it."

The next morning Willard came down to breakfast bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.

"How'd you sleep?" asked the manager.

"Never better."

The manager was impressed. "No problem with the other guy snoring, then?"

"Nope, I shut him up in no time" said Willard.

"How'd you manage that?" asked the manager.

"He was already in bed, snoring away, when I came in the room," Willard explained. "I went over, gave him a kiss on the cheek, said, 'Goodnight, beautiful,' and he sat up all night watching me."

Yeah but when they shower together they still can't enjoy each other naked. Girls could admire their friends or touch their boobs, whatever they want and it's just considered sexy and cool.

Well, okay, you're swinging over from one extreme to another. Most gay people I know still have "personal space" requirements, and don't want their friends feeling them up! Homophobia isn't about personal space and feeling each other up.

I think it's more of a fear reaction, and often related to repression. I liken it to jealousy. For many people, it's about personal and sexual insecurities.

Sad to say, whatever your race, religion or sexual persuasion, someone out there is going to hate you for it. The human species can be pretty fucked up.

Although in the year 100 in Rome men would wrestle naked

In the 1800s in new york city it was common for men to hold hands

In Africa today men still hold hands

Yes. Only 100 years ago, it was common for men to "link arms" when walking together.

But we don't live 100 years ago. Apparently this is a societal reaction to crowding -- the more people who live closely together, the more people treasure what personal space they can have.

Our societies now tend to be way more city-centric, and our personal space needs have changed with that.

I don't think that's about homophobia -- an entirely separate issue. But I do know that if a man walks hand in hand with a woman, it's barely noticed. Whereas if two women walk hand in hand, or two men, it IS noticed.

So there are still some acceptance issues from society. On the other hand, that may also be related to the relative exposure of non-heterosexual to heterosexual behaivour.

I don't know any friends who do that. I do it with my girlfriend, but I wouldn't do it with somebody who was just a friend. I would doubt this kind of thing goes on.
