Worried about others reading your mail?

(edited to say: Tough luck. Don't ask me.)

2. Private Messages: Take it from Lit Wizard Killer Muffin, who refuses to use Private Messages for anything sensitive...she posts straight to the Board. If you must use PM's, remember that people can forward them, and they are viewable by Lit Admins/Mods, just like your Passwords.

AH...

My favorite all time Rush song. My very first concert at Varsity Stadium.

Sorry Lance...didn't mean to change the subject, just saw the sig and brought me flashing back :)

Speaking of firewalls, asides from Zone Alarm and P-cillin, what's a good downloadable security program, please?

My second , April wine being my first. Saw them on the Fly By Night tour with Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush opening. My friends freaked out on acid, so we didn't see much of Rush.

I've hung out with Alex Lifeson a few times, a friend bought Neil Peart's house in Forest Hill and I've sat next to Geddy a few times at Raptor games...but I don't own a Rush CD. Might make a good xmas self present. Surely they have a Greatist Hits package....

I guess I'd go check at idc, tucows etc and read some review for the software that best suits your config , concerns and usage.

Cheers

Lance

LOL!! I own a 45 of Closer to the Heart. That's it. No CD's, nothing! I was high on acid for the very first time for the concert!

Thanks Lance, I shall check those sites.

And the meek shall inhereit the Earth.....

Funny you should mention this....I saw the sig line too.

I learned to play drums playing my Rush records to death.

Which is why I have "2112" on my cd wish list for christmas.

Little known fact.....Niel Peart did not play on the first Rush album titled "Rush"

He didnt join till the second recording "Fly By Night"

John Rutsey played the skins on the first album. One of my all time fave songs is on that record too..."Working Man".....sorry Niel.

Im not altogether sure that Rush has a best of recording either. If they did it would have to be five cd's long.

Dont mean to hijack the thread here either Lance.....good information.......

Bottom line is....anything is accessabile on any computer anywhere , from anywhere. You just have to know what you are doing.

The webmaster of a site having access to information/pm's transmitted on his/her site.....thats a no brainer.

Seems like in this day and age of people (unlike myself) being so terribly computer literate, anything you care to "put out there" can in effect be had by anyone else.

If you don't want someone to know it, don't say it at all.

Seems to be the only way to keep yourself truly safe.

Thanks for the heads up, Lance-ster

Silence is golden.

Perhaps its best none of us ever posted again.

Ha!

These are some really good tips.

As for the moderators having access to PMs, I believe that only the Admins have that kind of access.

Don't say ha, I'm thinking about it...

Thank you for the tips, Lance.

Lioness

The "ha" was wry and sardonic, Lioness.

Based on what I've seen and heard and tested myself with the use of chaff...less is more.

Strange ... but that link went "failed" now ... sure glad that I read it the first time around.

Very interesting find, Lance.

Isn't that odd?

It still works from my bookmarks but not from inside Lit all of a sudden.....so I've edited that post.

Perhaps I struck a nerve.

what permissions do Lit moderators have?

I have no doubt that the Admins could give them access to some of these details, I just don't know how much access they actually do have.

Hmmmm...some of my posts disappeared and reappeared in this thread just now. There was a black bar in between Lioness' last post and the one after.

So....assuming it's the Powers That Be, I've edited this thread.

Fuck it.

You're sure it wasn't just a browser hiccup?

Apparently God has spoken - but nobody understands a word of it.
