Hello there,
So I am in the unique position among the mods that I have worked as Technical support for numerous different internet and other tech companies, as well as I have done cyber security and I have also been a fraud investigator for a bank. I also have had a cyber stalker as well as one of our former mods decided to try and doxx me and other fellow mods. Thankfully most of you beautiful regulars are fabulous human beings and let us know about this. Thank you.
But this also puts me in the position to tell people with confidence that I know a thing or two about cyber security among other things.
So first thing...
DO NOT POST YOUR PERSONAL INFO IN THE OPEN ROOMS.
This one should be common sense and yet I find myself on the receiving end of people messaging me telling me their real name, where they live and all sorts of other things. Thank you for...trusting me with your personal info I guess but there is a reason we have screen names guys.
I also once had a chatter post their personal phone number in the rooms. With a simple google search I was able to find out their full name, their Instagram...where they live...their email address...where they were currently going to university and that they had an adorable dog and their Nanna was in the hospital (I very much hope she is doing better now.)
All of this was achieved with a phone number. All I did was about 15 minutes of googling.I then messaged them and told them this and they seemed pretty freaked out (rightly so) So while yes I do have a rather high level of google fu than some I am not the only one and they are fortunate that I am not someone with ill intentions. This is how you get cyber stalkers or crazy people showing up in your town looking for you. Don't do it...it is seriously stupid and it can cause you alot of issues.
Second thing..
DO NOT GIVE YOUR FINANCIAL INFO TO PEOPLE AND DON'T SEND PEOPLE MONEY.
We had reports...for some reason this person could not tell us the name of the chatter. But they claim to have been swindled out of money from this person for which we can do nothing about it. Sorry guys but if you choose to go off lit and interact with scammers this is an issue for the police and your bank but...somehow I doubt they will take your word for the chatter Hungdaddymcthunderballs from a free sex chat website took your money. They will pretty much do nothing unless you have some kind of proof like their real name and banking info. But if they ask you to buy iTunes cards and give them the numbers...sorry about your luck you are kind of screwed. These people do this for a living and chances are you are not getting your money back and all you end up with is an empty wallet and a mistrust of people. (again sadly with some rightly so) Also the most we can do for you on lit is ban the person.
IF YOU GIVE YOUR INFO TO SOMEONE ON LIT AND YOU HAVE A FALLING OUT OFF LIT WE CAN DO NOTHING.
Sorry but again if you are going to give someone you have talked to for 15 minutes your info...that is your choice you are adults. But we here at lit cannot help you with that. We only will do if it happens on lit. If you choose to go offsite its your own responsibility and you will have to deal with it on your own by blocking them and dealing with it there. My advice is either make an email address you are willing to abandon for things like this or maybe think a little more critically about who you give it to. We have had some real time love bloom on the site and I am thrilled for them but...it sometimes ends with hurt feelings and a spam folder filled with fuck you emails. So please consider this.
Also if it does happen on lit...TAKE A SCREEN SHOT AND SEND IT TO A MOD.

So please use some common sense please and we would really rather not have to do this again. Do have some fun and safe sexy times.
Thank you for your time.
