I was watching an old (1960's-1970's era) foreign film called "The Werewolf vs. The Vampire Woman", and was wondering.... Why are female vampires in this period of film all Lesbians? I was scratchin' a crater in my head over that one...

Um, I really couldn't tell ya. Maybe cause the male vampires weren't showing them enough affection and they turned to each other <g>

* ow ow.. usless information brain warming up*

In the era female vampire were depicted as lesbian because vampire are deviant and so was the practice of lesbianism... it was nothing to slight the image of a vampire (not that dracula hunted sexy young women... an almost romantasized image) the point was to get young people to assosiate lesbianism with evil... personally is a sexy lesbain vampire wanted me.. i'd only hesitate because of my angel.. but if he said why not.. i'd jump at the chance.

These movies were written by the feminists of that time period? This is when the movement started. I dunno.

Actually, lesbianism in vampires can be traced all the way back to Bram Stoker, where old Dracula has his group of female vamps who all hang out together. What carini said it right too. In films of this era, evil characters were often portrayed as homosexual. It worked both ways, they more more evil because they were homosexual, and it also emphasized how evil it is to be homosexual.

The only question I have to ask is why shouldn't the female vampires be lesbians- I loved watching those movies; still do. I think I must be a very strange person.

aren't all female vampires lesbians? I just thought it was a reflection of facts. I mean, it's real isn't it?
