I want to have a smooth chest / torso. So far all I've done is just been shaving, everyday in the shower, and I go through a lot of blades. My chest will itch if I don't shave the next day.
I called about waxing and the lady said you have to have your hair grown out at least a quarter of an inch, and that it is NOT permanent. It will grow back and then you'll have to regrow it out again. It isn't about pain, I can take pain.
Laser treatment is much too expensive...(I've called) and so is the electrolysis.

Any advice and serious suggestions or comments are appreciated.I'd like to find the lowest cost and most permanent solution.Thanks.

If your hair isn't too thick, try Nair once a week.

There is plucking of course. But that can take forever and be quite painful, though it will last a while since you are removing it from the roots.

If you have thick hair, then you may have to stick with shaving. Or put up with the hair until your next waxing. (Keep in mind that usually the more you shave, the thicker and coarser your hair can become.)
Edit:
(i know people say this is not true, but for me, the hair at the bottom of my legs (just above my ankles) came back darker/coarser. And not just because i can see as its coming out of the follicles either. i've had to go a few weeks without shaving my legs before, and the whole length of the hair is darker. i know this because i have naturally blond hair, and that is the only place i would ever say my hair is dark. Every person is different.)

Nair isn't a bad option, although if your skin throws a pissy fit it can SUCK.

Hair does not become thicker and coarser as you shave it. Shaving does not touch the hair follicle, so the actual nature of the hair can not change.

You could always just not manscape :p (<---teasing)

You could get a home-waxing kit and do your own waxing - much, MUCH cheaper than going to a salon.

*cries as yet another man washes his manhood down the drain*

yah home-waxing sounds like one of those really good ideas that just ends up not working very well...

OH!!! You should try one of those Smooth Away things! And tell me how they worked out for you!!! :p

They don't. I tried them, and it did squat. Of course, I have very thick coarse hair. It might work better if you don't.

i don't like those. you might as well buy 600 grit sandpaper at the hardware store.

Hairy = brave and strong. See here -

i don't mind her hairy, but he prefers her smooth. plus, i LOVE being waxed.

I'd really rather hope it's because he wants to do some wax play, and that's messy and difficult to clean up when you're hairy.

Because, if it's just for an 'it looks better' then :(

absolutely. men shouldn't shave below the neck. just not natural.

I don't think it's a bad thing. I wouldn't say that a guy has to shave anything, but I also don't really care if he does. My ex shaved his legs, because they were an absolute jungle and he felt like a gorilla. He was more comfortable that way, so I didn't mind it.

I wish to add an exception to this rule, for those men with mats on their back. Is kinda gross, particularly in public swimming pools XP

Which are already pretty gross, I readily admit...but that doesn't mean I want a wet-back-mat reminder walking around...

no way. I'm going to be a judgemental, bigoted bitch about this. I loathe it when men shave their bodies. I adore hair on a man. the more the better.

no way! again! it's not gross! it's fucking hot! though he has to be pretty big. a stick insect type guy can't carry it off.

True, haha. Excessive body hair is definitely unattractive.

Wow. It's like he's wearing a fluffy, partially see-through shirt...

it's really not the visuals that end up putting me off of very hair men...it's the prospect of finding their body hair all over the place XP

I don't know why that grosses me out and dog/cat hair doesn't, though. Loose people hair in general kind grosses me out.

<---is strange.

you are strange. you need re-educating. humans don't shed like dogs!

what got me turned onto it was the beginning of Accordion Crimes.

Have you thought of bottoming for fire play?

It stinks like hell but it works really, really good. And I've heard it cuts down a lot on the ingrown hairs and doesn't itch so bad when it grows back because the hair is rounded instead of cut at an angle.

(And no, I'm not suggesting you try this on yourself or invite random friends over to help. Especially don't do it upright. It can make you die if you do it wrong. And it's a rather excruciating, drawn out last 12 to 18 hours of life from what I've heard.)

Like many in cold climates, I did my first bit of practical scuba training in a public swimming pool.

*shudders*

You don't want to know how much hair is floating around down there. And band-aids. Ick.

Don't work as a hotel housekeeper then.

To the OP...

Many of the men in my triathlon club regularly de-haired themselves (head to toe!) for time-shaving purposes (pun intended). Waxing really is the best if you cannot afford laser treatment. They swore by waxing.

Many people, myself included, find that the hair that grows back is thinner and sparser. As long as you don't shave between waxings, you will likely find that the time between waxings will actually increase. I'm good for about 4-6 weeks but my hair is not very coarse. I hate shaving now. I'll never go back.
