Hello From My Englishness

I was in my local supermarket yesterday. Plenty of loo roll to be had, provided you didn't want their own label. People seem to stockpiling the cheap stuff....

I pretty much agree with all the points made in your posting marathon :)

Costco have now rationed the loo rolls!! only 1 pack of 40 each ....... we're doomed ..... DOOMED !!

The US is suspending flights out to or in from Europe for 30 days.
Would have been nice if they had included Japan and Singapore so we could get that ticket refunded.

ETA: Great Britain is not included in the ban.

That won’t stop anyone. They will book a flight from Europe to Heathrow, stay overnight then a flight to USA next day.

Sainsbury’s still have stock. A better class of customer, not stockpiling.

Ummmm I think maybe I might be. Just packed up my “ bug out” box with essentials including my Yorkshire Tea bags and my aspirational middle class markers eg fair trade coffee & long life oat milk. I’m not sure where we’re bugging out to though. I’m thinking that the US preppers are going to make me look like an amateur with their assault rifles and twinkies.

Or this.

I remember the lorry coming round our street as a kid and we used to get 3 or 4 bottles a week. You got a refund when you gave the empty bottles back.
I was an orangeade kid, mum liked dandelion & burdock

Dandelion and burdock every time. There were usually at least 3 of us , crate every week. Used to scour the bins and hedgrows for empties to supplement our pocket money (1955?)

Interesting that it was introduced as an alternative to beer and so a possible solution to drunkeness amongst the miners, and not really a surprise they found their marketing strategy a little off the mark...

*sneaks in*

Just back from northern Italy... Does one have to virtually self-isolate as well as in RL?

How is everyone? Loo roll stocks holding up? :D

Welcome home. It must have been wonderful to be there without the crowds?

No need for virtual isolation, so I am giving you a big virtual hug. I am glad to know that you and H were able to make it home. I was a little worried that you might be delayed in your journey. Plenty of loo rolls here.

Loved Dandelion and Burdock too but Cream Soda was my favourite especially with ice cream in.

I was looking forward to Venice... But we had to be sensible. We were bloody lucky actually - no cases anywhere near where we were, everything very calm and normal, if a little deserted. We left one day early when things started to lock down, drove home over four hand-gel-centric days.

I'm worried for the seasonal workers. Most of them will have lost a couple of months of work in the ski resorts...

Virtual hugs to you too, Angelica

We have lovely neighbours who are checking on us at arms length in our isolation  Does anyone have any ideas how we can keep ourselves occupied for a fortnight?

Good to see you back Numi and H. I’m sure you will find plenty of fun things to do while you self isolate

When Numi and H isolated
They did all the things that they rated
Used all the toys

👏👏👏

Of course once we've let the boys in, they'll have to stay for the remainder of the isolation period...
