That's an outdated idea. An election has to be won and the Democrats cannot walk into it saying that they worked with President Trump to solve the problem, they want to say that his failure to capitulate to all of their demands with no compromise on their part is the reason that nothing is getting done. They want amnesty, no wall, no funding for border security, sanctuary and Federal money to subsidize the influx of new de facto citizens. That is their bottom line and they will shut down the government to achieve that happy circumstance.

Of course, I'm one of those who think, fuck it if it shuts down. Maybe it will leave me alone.

They want more than just amnesty for 800,000 they want it as well for their family members another 3 million. I say fuck that shit and fuck the treasonous bastards promoting it.

It's a tough one, trying to fix Pandora's box.
I agree with you that allowing Dreamers to stay might set up a precedent and could lead to even more people coming in & perpetuating the cycle.

On the other hand: While I don't have much sympathy for their parents who knowingly broke the law, I feel really bad for Dreamers.
THEY didn't choose to break the law + unlike their parents, their deportation means severe uprooting.

The precedent has been set by the Democrats many years before: demand and accept an amnesty with a promise of enhanced border security in the future, a future which they fight tooth, nail and claw against because it does not represent compassion, diversity or acceptance of the exceptionalism of cultures outside of our own. By way of example, note how Hollywood and the tech giants of California fight as hard as they can for open borders and the free flow of people and the high taxes (which used to be deductible from federal taxation) from behind walls and gates in communities completely insulated from the realities of their dreams.

The demand is that I have to put myself into the shoes of the Dreamers, but this is only a tactic designed to shift the blame from the perpetrators of their condition into me (and those like me) who understand the Dreamers are not criminals, the parents are not criminals, the criminals are those who made a deal and broke it and now who want to repeat that this treason to their nation because it makes them "feel" noble, instead of making them face up to the reality that not only are they exploiters, but accessories to murder.

I say again that the immigration in this country needs a complete overhaul and things like the dreamers & company need to be included with a reasonable plan to handle such events automatically.

Almost all would probably make very good citizens and Ipso facto, are.

The trouble is we have no LAW to stay them from being forced out.

Could Trump do an EO for say, one year until our alleged lawmakers actually DO something?

Everyone but the Democratic leadership agrees with pretty much what you are saying, especially Trump. The Democrats DO NOT WANT ANY SORT OF DEAL that might possible be credited to Trump. They want to run agains his failure this fall. They want to use the lack of any deal to take back the Congress. They will happily throw the Dreamers under the bus so that they can play the slip and fall lawyers who are coming to their defense. They do not want a triumphant Trump, they want unassailable victims.

He wants eVerify. It's on the record. And, no, they are not more to blame. When you are in business, you play by the rules. The rule makers, as a stated just above, are the ones to blame for all of our problems. If you want to say that both parties wanted cheap, exploitable labor that had no grounds on which to complain, I might agree with this caveat, the Democrats wanted voters beholden to their brand to change demographics in a way that they could not change in the hearts and minds of their fellow citizens whereas business owners only reacted to the pressures of the market and rules/laws that they faced.

Yes, but they are part of the problem in that they are huge and can buy government indulgences. I believe the real truth lies in the number of mom and pops under economic pressure that provided most of the illegal hiring. Google has the H-1B visa at its beck and call. The politicians that the big guys fund are not about to single them out (other than in vague rhetorical fashion).
