Saw on the news that the G8 meeting in Genoa was subjected to the same mindless vandalism as in Quebec City , Seattle etc.

This time one of the protestors was shot and killed. I'm amazed that more haven't been. How the hell do this bunch of anarchists manage to travel from locale to locale to riot? Don't they have jobs to go to? How are they financed?

They claim to be against "globalization" but that's a crock. The ones truly concerned about the perceived dangers of the internationalization of the marketplace were attending alternate conferences peaceably. These "anarchists" were playing their games in front of the cameras. That is the real reason they were there, for the publicity!

You used to see these types at "ban-the-bomb" rallies but that's now a dead horse so they moved on to "green" rallies but that's getting old. So the new "cause-celebre" is globalization. How long they can milk it only time will tell.

Maybe there are a lot of angry young people all over the world. who want to hit back at faceless and all-powerful corporations.
Maybe the globalised corporations really are unfair, inhuman and are creating death and poverty as a business policy -reference Philip Morris tobacco.
Maybe there are a lot of Policemen all over the world who like to get into riot gear and knock seven bells out of the scruffy herberts who have been pissing them off for years.
Maybe anarchists and ETA and the PLF and the IRA and the UDR ought to stop playing war and go get a proper job.

As I said, the ones truly concerned were attending alternative conferences, peaceably, discussing their valid concerns. The street thugs could care less about why they were meeting, they were there for "a spot of bother".

I guess they couldn't wait for the next "World Cup" football matches to display their hooligan prowess!!
