That's exactly how I feel about all RPGs I pick up 🙄
It's hard when games are built around massive amounts of content that are really just fetch quests or item collection. I love a good story like the next person does but all these 100 hour games are too much 😅

I find myself having a hard time getting into new games. When you’ve been gaming since the 80’s, it’s hard to find something that doesn’t feel like you’ve already played it in some form or another. Even games that tick all those little boxes you enjoy I find hard to get into anymore. Maybe I’m just getting old and jaded?

No I think it's a relevant statement.

But I also think that a lot of games are just cut and paste if previous games and there is a general lack of innovation like there was in the 80/90s outside of the indie market. This is especially true with consoles.

I went ahead and watched Rings of Power. I feel I probably enjoyed it more having not read the books first. Anyone else enjoy it?

Had a great group of gamer nerds.
Sadly dispersed around the country now
hours spent arguing over the finer points of the rule and what they actually meant
Ran a number of Dr who rpgs - like proper dr who they managed to end on cliff hangers.

I had a similar problem. If I didn't read the books first I would have liked it more.
I haven't read the books directly but being good friends with some true LotR nerds I know enough of the law to guessed at one or two of the plot lines. The twist at the end did catch me slightly off guard, but overall I quite liked it. More than WoT. Which is ashame as I prefer those as a series of books.

I have tried three times to seriously like/understand/enter the whole 'Lord of the Rings' epic/myth/saga. But it just won't take for me. It is lurching from one horrific predicament to another for the characters. When you think they are out of the woods (so to speak), look!: here's a cave filled with monsters; look!: here's a lake that Frodo falls in and guess what: inhabited by ghosts or something. Never-ending series of calamities escaped in a hairs-breadth. So, the whole thing is about this.....ring? That has to be destroyed where it was forged or something. OK, if you say so....

It's a shame, because the movies are filmed beautifully and there is a great musical score.

So I took a pass on Rings of Power as MOTS.

p.s. I think part of my stumbling block is that I became entranced by the Chronicles of Narnia many years ago and that suffices for my fantasy world.

No criticism of you LotR fans, glad it works for you.

God of War: Ragnarok is upon us. I'll see y'all in like 2 weeks. :p

I recently found out I had been playing it wrong all along. But can’t currently remember how.
That’s funny! Turns out there’s a couple different ways to play. Then they introduce other Uno games just to mess with those of us who learned to play while camping. Our parents all sat around the campfire getting drunk, so us kids (10 of us) went and played Uno. Don’t know how the park rangers never came over and told us to quiet down!

So the game that I play on my iPad right now is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. That game has been around for a while.

Current TV show is definitely Quantum Leap. I’m hoping we see a Scott Bakula appearance at some point.

Have they remade Quantum Leap? Why? That show was perfect!

I’m sure the ”why” was because fans like me would get suckered into watching it. And it’s been pretty compelling. It’s been airing on NBC at 10 PM on Mondays. But they just had the “Winter Finale” after 8 episodes. Asshats.

The premise is the same. Project Quantum Leap has been restarted. But unexpectedly, Dr Been Soong, the project lead, decided to jump into the accelerator. No one knows why. Sam and Al have been acknowledged in the episodes. We are meeting more of the characters on the other side of the project. Ziggy is still the supercomputer.

It’s been done well. But like all TV shows done nowadays, its Basically a soap opera. The episodes won’t stand on their own in reruns.

But like most rewrites and reworks, you risk ruining the original legacy.

If it anit broke, don't fix it.

It was good to begin with. But it's become over saturated now. It's ashame it was good until the end of the infinity saga.

That's exactly where I stepped out. Ended on a bad movie, too. At that point, too many superhero films for me to care anymore, and the main overarching plot had been concluded.

So…I just enrolled my kid in school, um today.

The administrator told me I needed a Skyward account and I can’t learn the word because I keep referring to it as Skynet.

Have we discussed the Terminator ‘verse ever?

The Terminator verse was savagely ripped off by Moonfall...and others...the "machine awareness" and Skynet concept...
