Well, since I was asked I suppose it's only right to answer.

Films? Star Wars. The OT. They take me back to the whimsy of childhood and always take my mind off my woes.

Books? The works of Brian Jacques. I read a bunch of them when I was young, and they are fun to revisit. He also spends too much time describing food and feasts, so he hits my vice.

Games? Sorry. Few things will put a smile on my face faster than a simple game of Sorry. It can bring out the competitive side, but tends to always end in silliness, as such things should.

Quite a few years ago, I signed up for a dating site that arranged lunch meetings. I said I enjoyed women younger than me, and I was in my late 40's so I thought they'd match me up with a woman in her 30's. When I got to the restaurant/diner, I found myself looking at a woman barely in her 20's.

I assumed it was a joke, or a mistake. I couldn't fathom a very young woman being interested in such an older man. The lunch was fine and she was very pleasant and fun. She was cute as could be as well. When lunch was over, I was stumped. What was next?

We walked outside and she asked if I was parked nearby, and definitely gave the impression she was hoping the date would keep going. Being stupid, I said I had things to do, but that we had each others number and could chat more if we wanted.

I think back with shame and longing. Not my best moment.

I think I've pretty much always been that way. I am naturally goofy, and like to say funny things. People sometimes don't understand my sense of humor, so I tend to smile after saying something silly. I sort of got a reputation for it. My smiles aren't huge grins - not a "shower of teeth" type smile...but I've been told I have smiling eyes and a naturally occurring smirk.

a perfect date (first i assume) would need a few things in no specific order, yes i am old fashioned.
being on time, romantic dinner (preferably in a restaurant with wine), being picked up in a clean car that can make it back and forth, date has showered and looks like they put in at least 50% of the effort i do getting ready, they are attentive, would prefer someone talkative as i am shy irl but love to hear others,
we have something in common interests even if it is just sexy stuff. going someplace different later for a drink. a great good night kiss. and a message later appreciating the time together.
