There's a wildfire burning, at most, a mile from my home. I am, of course, at work right now and the fire would have to burn down half of the town before it got to where I currently am so, I'm safe, but my home is in danger and I'm pretty fuckin' scared right now. It's a very real possibility that I'll be homeless come morning because the wind is blowing in the direction of my place and there's only about an hour of daylight left for them to do air drops by.

Aw, damn. I'm so sorry to hear this.

Are they evacuating? What happens in this type of situation?

Oh god, honey. I hope that your place is safe, but even more so I'm glad to know that you are. :rose:
Yeah, I'm perfectly safe where I am. No worries there.

Yep...evacuating everyone who will go in the area.

Oh, Geeze. Have you got anything with you at all? Like clothes? Any place to stay?

Good luck. Remember, if worse comes to worse you can get a new house and replace posessions, but you can't replace you!

I found this. Is your home in the subdivision that has been evacuated?

Wildfire near Flagstaff forces some evacuations

06:58 PM Mountain Standard Time on Wednesday, June 14, 2006

By The Associated Press

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- A smoky, wind-whipped wildfire is burning about two miles west of Flagstaff.

The Woody Fire was first reported a 4 p.m.

The cause was not immediately known.

Wind gusts of up to 46 miles-an-hour pushed the fire to an estimated 200 acres within two hours.

Authorities say the fire appears to be burning north, away from downtown Flagstaff, and was adjacent to the western perimeter of Flagstaff.

Several air tankers are dropping water and retardant on the fire in the hours before sundown.

Up to eight hotshot crews on the ground were trying to build containment lines around the fire.

A small subdivision one mile northwest of the fire was in the process of being evacuated.

I called the cops and they said that my place hasn't been evaced yet but call back in an hour for an update.

Thanks, everyone, for the well wishes...Christ, this is surreal.
I fucking hate Arizona!!:(

Tom, if worse comes to worst (and you can handle the valley heat), you're welcome to stay with Mats and I for as long as you need.

Sending positive thoughts your way...as some may remember, fires and I are very well acquainted

Christ...I really am freaking...I just spasmodically flirted with min and didn't even realise I'd done it until I reread my post.

Sorry...

:rose:

It's all ok. Just hang in there.

Have you gotten an update on the situation?

Well...if i understood what they just said then the firefighters believe that they have it contained and are just working on setting some back fires to be sure it wont spread further.

somewhere in the area of 150 acres burned.
