? For Lesbian couples about having children

new to lit and just want to know if any lez couples have children and how did you become impregnated. My ex left me for a woman and they have contacted me to knock one of them up.When we were together i never screwed her but we did have anal and oral sex.have any other couples invited a man to knock them up in the traditional way or have all just had a sperm donor?

What exactly would be traditional about a lesbian having a man over to 'knock her up'? Traditional for lesbians is artificial insemination with an anonymous donor - and it is the only safe way legally - since a natural father can claim parental rights.

Please dont do this, I know a few lesbian couples where a friend or former male lover, has agreed to father a child for the couple and then stay out of the childs life. I cannot say in any of these cases it has worked out other than badly.

I really think as has been said that they should go the anonymous donor route, though in the UK even that has problems, as when the child is older they have the legal right to be told who the natural father was etc. This, along woith egg donors who now have the same lack of anonymity has led to a complete collapse in donors of both sperm & eggs.

I think you should sit down with these friends and be honest with them, if you want to help them, find out the details of clinics where AI can be done and information on the legal issues involved.

just want to thank those of you that responded and you all have confirmed my worst fears that it would be extremely difficult to make a situation like this work and would not be in the best intertest of the child
