A nice bass.

I've never caught a bass. They don't live up here.

Since I'm posting pictures, I thought I'd share the funeral memorial we made for my brother-in-law. This is the halibut he caught (off of a 19 ft. skiff) to win the Jackpot Halibut Derby in Seward, Alaska. My sister won 2nd place (same derby, same skiff) with her halibut that weighed 228 pounds.

They had to tow it in to the harbor to weigh it. They didn't even consider trying to land it. The officials wanted James to take a lie detector test because they thought he had the fish flown in. After a bunch of legalities, he finally got his $5000 check.

When I read his obit, I wondered how you were doing. I take my hat off in respect for him, a fisherman passed on.

It would've been terrible eating. The best are between 30-50 pound, in my opinion.

Had I caught a halibut like that on an everyday fishing trip, I would've released it.

Very creepy. I'd probably pass on swimming or fishing in that lake until they figure out why.

Thanks, Thør. I'm doing fine.
James did love to fish and he loved taking his son with him. :rose:

it's 3 or 4 lakes in the same system
weirdness
The Ministry of Natural Resources claims they ahve no clue what's causing it. They've been out testing the water and say it's fine. Strange that it's only affecting the carp.

I swam in it, as did my kids. If I vanish, you know I got the carp disease.

I figured you were okay.

Taking the kids is the best thing about fishing.
