BUT...Turkey may still say yes.

George isn't exactly having an easy run in launching his war on Iraq is he?

How do you think he's taking all this pressure?

Will he crack?

Will he give up on Iraq and switch to North Korea?

Will he say "Fuck it" and go back home to Texas?

The pace is hotting up in this exciting soap opera...

And now the revolt in Blair's own Party is growing...

It's predicted in today's paper that the 100 or so Labour backbenchers who voted against the Government a few days ago could increase by a further 90 votes.

Now that is major opposition to Blair's policy.

If it continues like that expect to see the UK withdraw from the actual fighting...

You'll have to go it alone...

But that's what Bush really wants anyway, then he can claim all the spoils for himself...

Oh, sorry, he's already done that...

With the title of this thread, i thought you'd actually started something about something other than politics. It sounds like a complaint about a woman.

Instead it's another verse of the same damn song........ now where was i? Is this 95 or 94 bottles of beer on the wall?

Turkey was pretty surprising considering that the yes vote was expectedly purely because of the amount of cash being offered.

Many thought it was simply too good for Turkey to pass up.

Marge first you didn't want me to get the horse
NOW you want me to take it back. Make up your mind sheesh

Here's an interesting potential Turkey-related scenario:

The Iraqi Kurds rise up against Saddam. Meanwhile, the Turkish Kurds rise up against, um, the guy in charge in Turkey. The US sends troops to Iraq to help the Kurds, and troops to Turkey to fight the Kurds. It would be fairly typical of past US foreign policy, helping oppressed peoples while simultaneously helping to put down revolts by oppressed peoples.

What's next?

Will Turkish baths be renamed "freedom baths"?

And what about Turkish Delight?

I have no idea what it is besides some sweet food, 'cause Eustace got some from Lilith in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.....

What, are they going to attack everyone with tryptophan?

That's one of those chemical weapons they keep going on and on about.

If you really want to confuse things, how about some oxytocin?

Going by the title of the thread, I thought you were talking about Saddam's waffling on whether or not he would cooperate and, perhaps, consider complying with UN resolutions.

Ooooooooo, eerie, cuz lookee what I found today:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A8113-2003Feb26.html

ANKARA, Turkey, Feb. 26 -- The United States has promised to prevent Kurds from imposing a federation-style government in postwar Iraq that would ensure their continued autonomy and agreed to allow Turkish troops to enter northern Iraq and observe the disarmament of Kurdish militias once fighting has stopped, Turkish officials said today.

Yeah I liked your analysis when I saw it yesterday...

I always thought that George was off centre but this is carrying madness a bit too far.

The last thing the Kurds want is Turish troops marching all over their territory, territory which has been peaceful for them since the US and UK have been patrolling the no-fly zones...

I wonder what Blair thinks of all this? With luck he may use it as an excuse to withdraw from the shooting war...

I'm not sure what "taking the piss" means to you, but it seems to me, especially in your posts, that Bush has been "taking the piss." I wonder why you don't direct your vitriole toward Saddam Hussein — all he has to do is comply and this whole thing is over. Really, pp, don't you want Saddam to comply with the U.N. resolutions, and doesn't it make more sense to criticize someone who is failing to comply rather than someone who is trying to make him comply?
I understand this whole "right, wrong" thing can be hazy for some people. I can also understand how some people might believe Saddam will comply, even though he's chosen not to for 12 years.
As for "bombing the place out of existence," I hardly think that will happen. You read what you want to read, and I read what I want to read. And what I'm reading is that a whole lot of Iraqi citizens would be happy to see Saddam gone, including a number of soldiers.

Sure Ham . . . and a whole lot of world citizens will be extremely happy to see Dubyah Shrub gone in 2004 . . . except Daddy George will probably want a third term and will get his CIA mates to help him become appointed again . . . you just can't trust those Fundamentalist Redneck Republicans to follow the rules . . . :)

War is never easy pp_man

How do you think he's taking all this pressure?

He had partial ownership in the Texas Rangers, he is well adapt to pressure.

Will he crack?

He's going to crack Hussein if that is what you mean

Will he give up on Iraq and switch to North Korea?

Possibly, but not until Hussein is taking a dirt nap

Will he say "Fuck it" and go back home to Texas?

Doubtful

No soap opera pp, just the removal of a chronic problem, Mr. Hussein.

Not having Turkey's backing affects logistics, but it would be fool hardy to think this will push back war plans or operations.
