We are all attracted to people for different reasons. But mainly, I believe that we look for people who have traits we would like to have or that compliment ours, that balance our lives in some way.

Look at the people you choose as your friends. Why are they your friends? I would venture to guess that they have characteristics that you admire, that you see in yourself or that you would like to see.

The same is true of those we choose as our love intrests. Those who I find attractive may or may not be that to others. And that might be why we have evolved so well. A very diverse gene pool, because we are all so very diverse, may have something to do with it.
