Feedback on my first erotic story?

I haven't read the whole thing yet, but your mention of Hildegard von Bingen in the second paragraph promises that this isn't going to be a run-of-the-mill stroker!

Very elegant, beautifully written, unravelling slowly. A musicologist's dream.

The style, subject, and setting reminded me of some late Victorian / early Edwardian erotica I read, decades ago. You're very much in your own time and place with this story - it's unusual. There will be many who don't click with the style, but there'll be just as many who will. It's faultless writing. I suspect you're already a writer, because this is very polished, which is rare for a first piece of work here on Lit.

Wow, thank you so much for your kind words! I really loved diving into the subject matter and trying to get into a linguistic world that felt appropriate for the setting. I’ve written short stories before, but nothing remotely erotic—mostly slow-paced character driven mystery works or dysfunctional family dramas. The subject matter does draw on one of my former lives (I studied at a music conservatory in my youth before drastically changing directions, though much more recently than 1901).
