Fast-food workers push for $15 an hour

Some people just don't have the smarts to do any better than fast food or digging ditches.

I know men that work their balls off all day long and don't expect a hell of a lot for it.

Our society is wealthy enough to afford to give these people enough money for what they contribute to at least have a life.

They should not be forced to go spend the night in a cardboard box just so you with the million dollar house can get the grass cut cheap

why?

the million dollar house guy

EARNED IT!

move to a COMMIE CUNTRY and see if you like it

Life isn't always easy and is never fair. People who try to make it fair are on a fools errand. We can do little things that help but it's up to the people to help themselves. You try to make a career at the fry station, you're gonna be miserable. Just the way it is.

I agree but I know people, who don't drink, smoke, do drugs, who work 2 jobs or full time and school and don't expect to be working retail for life. For me it comes down to a slight reduction in corporate profits so that people can be paid a decent wage be upwardly mobile and off of welfare.

meanwhile these "people" say its better not to work then work at a Wal Mart

FUCK EM

STARVE

Oh, I think they should up the wages but I also think in some jobs it's simply not going to happen. At least not in any significant way. Fast food has always been minimum wage because it's always been primarily teenagers. There's never been a need to pay a kid more than minimum and really there shouldn't be.
Does that hurt older people? Yes. Does it suck? Yes. Is there a way to change it that's fair to everyone involved? Probably not.

The Library is free son, learn good communication skills, don't sell yourself short, work hard, real hard, become indispensable to the boss, no matter who he is. Abraham Lincoln was self taught in a much tougher time than yours.

Let's see what I learned in business communications:

The Library is free son, learn good communication skills, don't sell yourself short, work hard, very hard, and become indispensable to the boss, no matter who he is. Abraham Lincoln was self-taught in a much tougher time than yours was.

Could I have learned this at the library? Perhaps, but it was much easier attending class three times a week for 15 weeks at college.

I work in IT, that's Information Technology. Could I learn to program computers in several languages at the library, out of books? Improbable without the use of computers with the correct software, such as compilers for BASIC, Pascal, C++/C10, SQL, etc.

Lincoln could read while he worked. Could someone working at a minimum wage job do that today? Absolutely not. That would be considered "slacking off" and "not being an essential member of the team".

You used very poor examples of how people can lift themselves up out of the minimum conundrum.

STFU, SPONGE

That requires authority not granted in the Constitution. Government mandating paying people more than they're worth in the market place, is welfare. What exactly is a "decent wage?" Who decides? Communism failed son.

no, it requires workers to say fuck you, national strike!

Seriously, if you want people to talk the way you talk and have similar personal values that won't happen as long as they feel disenfranchised. If there is no avenue to upward mobility, people give up, go on welfare, join gangs, steal what you have.

I'm sure that this will shock you but the people who most hate welfare deadbeats are those people I'm talking about, black and Hispanics working to improve their lives. A little less corporate greed would do a lot to keep people off welfare and running the streets.

Learn economics before posting, understand the Constitution as well.

These punks talk their shit here but are 1st in line to cross a picket line and buy Chinese. Auto workers are the worst about crossing picket lines of other unions.

The real solution, of course, is to dismantle all the obstacles in the way of start-ups and new technologies. Paying farriers more money aint gonna resurrect Old Dobbin.

About the day I graduated apprentice school computers replaced my skills, so I hadda learn a different trade, civil engineering (surveying and underground utilities), and the computers caught up with me again. So I spent 8 years in college and be damn if the computers weren't doing all the psychological testing by that time.

Its relentless.

My advice to folks is to identify the jobs everyone hates, and do them. Like ship repair. Repairing old tubs is nasty, nasty, nasty but pays well, and no computer has figgered out how to replace an old oil encrusted stack.

Simple solution, kill all corporate leaders.

I've never crossed a picket line in my life. Scabs are the lowest form of human life.

I get that attitude but at the same time they're just trying to make a living like anyone else. Tough choice for them.

I did for one summer to help pay for college. We were physically threatened, brake lines cut, and more. I am not ashamed, I was working for a living.

Even from a self interest pov, crossing picket lines is akin to shooting yourself in the head.

Then you're scum.
