You can say you get to know someone by im, phone, e-mail etc. but, all you really know is what that person is telling you. You do not know how much of it is true or made up. A person can be anyone or anything on here. It is easy to play a role but when real life comes crashing down it really shows who they love and who they want to spend their life with.

I agree. People can be whatever/whoever they choose to be online. I think the telephone is almost the same. I need to see your eyes. I need to see how your finger twitches when you say something......I need to read your body language. I must have a sense of you. I've met a lot of people in RL after meeting them online first............several were clearly liars.
