If you aren't willing to give her attention. Someone else will. You can't be upset when that happens. She wanted it from you.

I am definitely open to explanations, because I honestly don’t understand nor is it the first time I’ve heard it. Why is kindness and gentleness in demeanour not sexually attractive or just generally attractive in a woman? Or is it just a cop-out excuse?![]()

This is about those cat and dog pics you just showed me, isn’t it?![]()
Fencing is not giving me the satisfaction.![]()
I have never understood such timidity of spirit.![]()
Randomly thinking about people who, since I was a child, seemed to live in fear that some malicious force was intent on invading their homes and doing them harm, even though they lived well off the beaten path where no such thing ever happened. It wasn’t uncommon in my childhood to walk into a relative’s home and see a shotgun leaning against a wall next to the front door. One of my grandfathers kept a loaded revolver next to his bed when I was running around unsupervised as a 10-year-old, and at around the same age I’d ride around with my other grandfather with his rifle laying across my lap, so it would be handy in case he wanted to shoot a deer or threaten a trespasser. Now the older generations of men have passed from my family, and the greatest persistent foreboding seems to be that I will snap someday and do something really crazy, like forget to wipe my shoes before I walk into the house, or say “damn” in front of children. If I said “fuck,” it would unleash the hounds of Hell. I have never understood such timidity of spirit.![]()
I’m worried about a gun being next to the front door - if anyone broke in, they would be provided with a weapon![]()
I understand your concern, but the point is that no one was ever going to walk randomly down these old country roads with a thought of commiting a crime. Just too much effort involved.
Oh, I understood that! Just that part jumped out at me!
I’ve been binge watching a documentary series about historic murder cases being reopened and analysed under the standards and with the tools available today. Some cases are being deemed as unsafe convictions and families getting justice for their ancestors. Apparently I’m looking at everything with a legal mind at the moment - my sister accused me of that yesterday![]()
There was this series of cold case murders on Crime Investigation channel, and I used to binge watch it. I'm a sucker for cold cases. They are so difficult to solve and kuddos to those who work on them.
Anyway, I had to quit because I started to have nightmares.lol
Were they unsolved cases in the show you mentioned? I might see if I can find those online and take a look! If they start giving me nightmares, I will quit watching them too! I’ve studied both law and psychology so these kind of documentaries fascinate me. It’s really interesting seeing the length the barristers are going to, in order to support their clients. I’m discovering whole occupations I didn’t realise existed - such as nursing historians, who contribute to books, articles and even movies and tv shows.
There were cold cases, murders from 20, 30 or so years ago. Each episode had one of these cases with the detectives trying to solve it. Many of them still were not solved but they would give their hypothesis of who done it. In many cases the people involved were dead already. It's not that the show had heavy images or anything. But I have this thing that when I read or watch too much stuff on a particular subject (any subject) I would start dreaming about it. In this case it was murders, so I started dreaming about murders.
The same thing happened when there was a period I was reading to many books about the holocaust. You can imagine the nightmares there, as the description in the books left nothing to imagination, and rightly so. Then I read the biographies of Stalin, Lenin and Trotsky, and I started dreaming Stalin. Not a good dream, I can tell you that. lol So now, I don't focus too much on one particular subject. I have learned to alternate them. For every heavy subject I read, I start reading something very light and for pure entertainment after.

I have to agree with you that overloading yourself on one topic can cause it to creep into the subconscious! I’m prone to dreams and nightmares, so I get that, too. I might look up the show you mentioned though - it sounds interesting and seeing the thought processes behind the conclusions can be amazing sometimes! Dreaming of the Holocaust must have really impacted your sleep!![]()
This is exactly what I do. I noticed the harder subjects make me feel down, rightly so. These things are deep and dark and shouldn't be forgotten. However, I need to feed my mind happy things, too. I somehow think the writers of the other books would want us to remember that there is still joy to be had in the world, if we look for it.
